some of these bands might be considered mainstream, but idk at my school there not popular at all.
10 the strokes-many might not consider them "indie", and i didnt care much for their last album, but there first 2 albums were great i think.
9 the shins-same as the strokes, except i liked wincing more than 1st impressions.
8 arctic monkeys-only 2 albums, but both classics.
7 neutral milk hotel-in the aeroplane over the sea is absolutely breathtaking.
6 the decembrists-1 of the few indie bands that is getting even better as they go on.
5 built to spill-not a HUGE fan, i have you in reverse, keep it like a secret, and ancient melodies, all solid, and gotta give them respect for being around so long.
4 the white stripes-big fan of every one of their albums.
3 pixies-just incredible. i have there greatest hits, and i like almost every song. black francis is god.
2 sonic youth-i hav daydream nation, dirty, goo, and ashing machines, and all are good, especially goo. one of the longest standing bands, with a huge collection.
1 modest mouse-the ONLY band that was able to make great, deep music, and then "sellout" and become more poplular, yet still stay great in my book. im a big fan of both the lonesome crowded west and good news.
