Okay okay, I know Erykah Badu probably is better suited in the R&B category. But the thing is, she released this insanely bizarre concept album that has tremendous indie appeal. Can't really think of a comparison... outside of maybe Common's "Electric Circus". I'm huge fans of goldfrapp and beach house, and I haven't listened to those albums once yet because of the durability of this album. Has anyone else heard it?

i JUST listened to it no more then a half hour ago.

I'm quite impressed, and I plan on picking up some of her back-catalog.

Yeah, this should probably be moved to R&B/Soul section, although with artists like these, it's hard to pin them down...

I really think that soul music is one of the most under recognized genres in the indie community. Albums like this really push things forward, and it's exciting to listen to prolific artists like Badu at their creative zeniths. Or take for example Remy Shand or Bilal, two enormous talents with killer albums that very few probably know that much about. Hate to use Pitchfork as an example, but why is it that Pitchfork will cover the Houston Rap fad (Mike Jones, Paul Wall) and pretty much ignores neo soul? It seems that it still seems to cater to a mostly limited mainstream audience.

Its quite a good album, one of the best this year, although her work with Dilla is superior to her work with Madlib/9th Wonder.

It's been a slow grower for me. It's obviously of greater quality, i love the end of the album. and the beginning. i have a feeling it drop a bit in the middle. but overall, a very strong release
