Okay, so far I am in love with two of the bands that RavingLunatic had posted and suggested (Thank you very much sir ).Filmore Mescalito Holmes, Field Music is an awesome band, thanks! I know there's already a post, but come on people, you've gotta have some more great bands! Post away!
Some bands that you should check out:
Among Wolves- They sort of remind me of Pedro the Lion, only a lot more acoustic. Great stuff
Flying Douglas- Great sounds coming from these guys. Stuff can only be found on PureVolume, I believe.
Autolux-Eugene has a great voice. Great drumming from Carla. Guitarist is Greg from Failure. Amazing stuff.
Okkervil River- Great folk/lo-fi band from Texas. Enjoy!

Glad you liked Page France and Winterpills, GB. I don't feel quite as worthless now.
I'm in the process of looking into some of those bands you named, GB. Okkervil River I already know and love.
Since no one else seems to want to post their own recommendations, I'll add a few. (I've hyped these bands in the past on the Meta forums.)
Season - I'm not a huge post-rock fan. So much of it seems pretentious and boring. This Australian post-rock band, however, is amazing. They've only released one full album, Avatar, and it's only available in Australia, which means you've got to utilize your local file-sharing network to find their stuff.
David Francey - I'm a huge fan of folk music, and it doesn't get much better than this guy. He's Canadian, but lived his first 12 years or so in Scotland, which is why he sings with a Scottish accent. He's released 4 albums, but his best two are Far End of Summer and Torn Screen Door. Drawback: you have to mail-order his albums, and they cost over $20.
Thee More Shallows - Their first album was decent, but their 2005 release, More Deep Cuts is one of the most incredible and powerful albums I've ever heard. It got good reviews, and just about everyone I've talked into hearing this really liked it, but they still remain under the radar. The new Velvet Teen is going to be amazing. I just saw them live last night and it was incredible. Their drummer stole the show. I think he may even be better than the likes of Zach Hill (hella) or Brian from Lightning Bolt which just by the comparison can tell you how insane the drumming is going to be on the albumn.

I went to Pure Volume and listened to all the Among Wolves stuff there, and I have to say, I really like a lot of it. I've only heard one Pedro the Lion album and I didn't like it, but I definitely like Among Wolves. Nice call, GB.

Rocky Votolato - (I think I spelled that correctly) He's a Texan guy who plays some great music. More on the folk side, great to listen to when studying or just relaxing.
Vetiver- Just found out about this San Francisco band recently. Lots of acoustic, once again great for relaxing.
Hypatia Lake- This band is slightly, odd, in a way, but it's something different
Wolf Parade- In my opinion, this band sounds a bit like Modest Mouse, but better. Great stuff.
Mobius Band- Not really much to say, listen and ye' shall see.
The Double- As soothing as Early Day Miners. I enjoy the singers voice.
I have a lot more, but Ill keep the list short. If you share the same interest, post about it. I hope you like these bands. Great talent in each and every one of them. Enjoy!...RavingLunatic, good to hear you like AmongWolves!

Tiny Hawks - a super short cd with enough energy for a lifetime
This Heat - They are from way back in the late 70s, early 80s but you wouldn't know it if I didn't tell you. They were just reissued this year. Best record I've heard all year.
Gang Gang Dance -Awesome avant group. A mix of Animal Collective and Deerhoof if you can imagine.
Paper Airplanes - havent been as excited about guitar rock since Built to Spill
Manitee Orchestra - I don't know if this is released in the US yet but when it is it should be your favourite album of the year.

OK, I've said ot before, but these guys are great. I'm so glad GB directed me their way. Even better, you can download all their stufffor free at their Pure Volume Site. There'a also a few new songs on their MySpace page.
Their stuff has got a mostly folk/alt country feel to it, but they do some interesting and enjoyable experimentation fairly frequently too. Definitely one to check out.

Damn, I wish Gender Bombs were still around, because that dude knew some freaking awesome music. I'm just now checking out Hypatia Lake, who he recommended upthread, and they are amazing. They've got a bit of a shoegazing thing going, which I normally hate, but they actually use interesting sounds and write great songs.

I'm still in love with David Thomas Broughton.... after a year! That seems like a feat in today's music world. So, if you haven't listened to him, do it.
He's kinda Antony & the Johnsons-ish... but more approachable I'd say. It is really dirty though, so don't listen to it around women or small children!
Under Byen- Their Danish and I just think they are amazing. They don't even use guitars, which is very surprising because sometimes it sounds like they are.
iForward, Russia!-They are on the heavy side. I think many will not like them, but I think they are great.
The Dirty Projectors- Pure experimental, crazy lyrics, gotta love it.
French Kicks- Delivers some pretty decent songs
The Intelligence- Quite like The Hives, good all around if you need some "punk" in your life.
The Radio Dept.- One word: Brilliant.
Rogue Wave- Love em
Sparklehorse- One of the best things to ever happen to indie rock
That's all for now. Some of these may be a bit on the mainstream end, and I am curently in a music -finding slump. Please, Id love to hear feedback and more suggestions. G'day.
