Predictions? What will they do? Try something new or go RTCM part 2? How much horns will there be? Will there be any songs better than Wolf Like Me? Will it be twice as good as RTCM and establish TVotR as the greatest band on the planet? Will it be a failure, a critically panned fall from grace? Will it be mediocre and be critically successful anyway, like, say, In Rainbows? Chime in, people.

All I'm willing to bet is that it's a grower.

I only know who Tunde Adebimpe and Dave Sitek are, but who's the guy on the right of that photo? He has just taken out first place in Best Hair of 2008.

I think that's their drummer. quote: Originally posted by thefanste: Predictions? What will they do? Try something new or go RTCM part 2? How much horns will there be? Why don't we wait until we hear it and see. This is the most excited I've been about a record's release since Interpol's Antics. I think TV on the Radio have the best sound out there right now. I really hope it turns out great.
I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

Blah - 2008 doesn't need saving, you just aren't looking.

::sigh:: Whatever happened to the days when we didn't have to look? And I beg to differ, '08's been kind of a letdown.

Good thing that signaled Beck's return to greatness. Oh wait... I dunno, I hope TVotR return to their "Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes" sound and bring back the cool saxophone riffs and get rid of the overproduction that I felt clouded RtCM. There were a few exceptional songs on RtCM, but I felt that overall it was severely over-hyped. 2008 is a way deeper year than 2007 in my opinion, but it lacks the indie rock gems that so many of us have latched onto in the past. No Spoon or Beirut to unite our musical tastes, maybe Okkervil will rise to the top of most lists, but I think the lack of agreement is more based on the diversity of musical tastes on this forum than any weakness in the overall quality of the music in 2008.
It ain't hallelujah, but it might as well have been.

Agree. If you have to search that hard, it's not that impressive of a year. I've been digging, and so far I can probably count on one hand the number of albums I'll still be listening to in another year.

You said it, Eric. I've found some definite good albums, but there were at least three times as many this time last year...

Phesh, Beck was still at greatness with Guero and The Information, foo. I couldn't agree with you more in having disdain for RtCM due to its production. Therefore I am also hoping for a to their Desperate Youth sound. Either way I think 2008 has been a great year for music even though I don't share the same taste(s) as most of the people defending this year. Also, someone should tell Danger Mouse that I apparently just signed him up to produce this album.

Sounds like you guys are simply having the Pitchfork Best Music releases delivered to your front door and expecting the best. I honestly haven't found it that difficult to "look" for and find good music in 2008. Maybe I'm just into crappy music?
