The Joggers are a great band. Ben Whitesides' delivery evokes the timeless emotional ambivalence of the hipster with soul(do I care or don't I?), and the music is characterized by profoundly catchy off-kilter guitar riffs: a sometimes rambling, bleating, scissoring profusion of slithery and strange but extremely palatable instrumental maneuvering. There are usually two lead guitars at play, winding around and nipping at one another like a couple of sarcastic snakes.
Think if everybody in U.S. Maple decided to do a few records of more-or-less straightforward love/hate/whatever pop songs, and got a new singer.

I know about 'em. They're good, though i think i need to refresh my memory. And i forget which band the songwriter was in before, but i wanna say he was in a punk band that i sort've feel ambivalent about... not too sure.

after only listening to the songs on their myspace page, i would say that some of their guitar work is kind of interesting. i generally do really like more angular guitar work. however, i could take or leave the rest of it. nothing too interesting about it after some of the guitar work. just sounds like straight-forward pop.
I saw them open for Malkmus. Their set was pretty unmemorable. They had a few interesting ideas, but they seemed to be at a stage where they haven't figured out their niche. They still sound like they're covering their favorite bands. If they can create their own sound, they could be interesting.
"covering their favorite bands"? That's one of the very last accusations I'd level at the Joggers. His voice has rather an indie everyguy sound, but musically they are very, very distinctive.
I've never visited their Myspace or seen them live, but I can just tell from the name that I wouldn't enjoy them. I mean, only losers go jogging. Am I right? Am I right? Haha.
There were a lot of different "The Joggers" when I looked them up on Myspace, so I'm not sure which one is the right one.
