I'll be honest, I heard about this album from P4K's review (didn't actually read it just saw they were on Arts & Crafts).
This album just keeps getting better and better for me after every listen.
My favorite tracks so far are "Sweet Dreams Sweet Cheeks" and "You! Me! Dancing!". Any other fans of this album? Or like my other posts... it'll just be forgotten lol.

That isn't something to be proud of whatsoever. A great deal of us go to Pitchfork, regardless of whether we agree with what they recommend us or not, and (should) read their reviews.
Kind of off topic, but I've found that I've read polar opposite reviews and appreciated both ends; take Most Serene Republic's Population for example, p4k gave it a 5.8 while Drowned in Sound gave it a 9/10. Both reviews gave good points why it merited the score it was given, but you'd have to read both and have listened to the record.
Back on topic, I really enjoyed this album, one of my favourites of the year, etc...but this one was weird. For some reason it was hard to listen to all the way through. It wasn't the guy's voice, I've listened to CYHASY records and could stand him. Anyone feel a similar reaction to an otherwise great album?

Here we go with this crap. "if you read the p4k review and that made you listen to it, you shouldn't be proud whatsoever". How idiotic. So he got tipped off by p4k. So he likes the label Arts & Crafts.
RadiantSilverGun is so much cooler than us because he reads other reviews of albums that p4k disses and then calls them on it. This makes him really cool and a lot more indie than us.
Give it up people, you like pitchfork.
"don't get sentimental...it always ends up drivel"

Clearly you can't read, honey. I was commenting on the fact that he shouldn't have commented on how he didn't read the review, and that he really should have read it. I never attacked him on his liking for Arts and Crafts records, I don't know where you got that from.
My comment following it was off topic, as stated. I was merely stating that I've agreed with points from the scores of polar oposite reviews. TMSR's record was just an example. I never put myself up on a pedastol OR called out p4k at all. I read Pitchfork reviews and others but I make my decisions for myself by sampling the reviewed music. I never stated myself as more 'indie' than anyone else here, as that is a massively pompous statement.
You sir, have misinterpreted a comment to unbelievable levels and in return made yourself look like an incoherant ass. But I ask you (and anyone else), did you have the same issue I had listening through the whole album? If so, please give me your reasons, I still can't put my thumb on it.
Good day.

I ended up reading the review. I don't feel like I miss much by not reading those reviews (and I doubt many people do). I usually just make my own opinion and blog it. A lot of references with P4K I don't know about/bother with. Generally I find the tone doesn't match the score and because they have the score as the first thing, it's hard to go through an article that will take some time to digest. Yeah reviews do give good points but most of the time, I have my own opinion and I need to read the review after I've listened to the album in order for it to have any meaning.
As for the album itself, at first I also had trouble going all the way through the album. I think from track to track it is difficult as it seems to switch gears/style.

Oh yes, of course. In the end it's your own opinion of the music. Otherwise, your just another hipster taking high scoring records off of sites for no reason. The reason I suggest reading the reviews (which you stated you do) is so you can compare their insights and delights and nitpicks with your own.
You could be very right about the track to track business. I will have to listen to it again. Thanks for responding in a polite and educated fashion.

Are we discussing P4k or Los Campesinos in this thread? I noticed the Popmatters reviewer wanted to give it a 10, but ended up giving it 9 out of 10. The few times I've heard it, I thought it's great fun and all but nothing extraordinary. What have I been missing? I'm listening to it now to find out.

I'm listening to it for the third time in a row now, and I'm starting to warm to it, but after the first five great songs I think the album gets a bit monotonous. When Knees Deep... picks up at the end I get this feeling. I imagine they are a fantastic live spectacle though. Either that or a total mess (which can be quite beautiful). To me they sound a bit like Angelica.

I'm actually replying to myself here Last week I finally warmed to this album, and it's now being played at least 3 times a day at volume 10. My neighbours probably hate me by now. It's getting close to a top 3 in my year-end-list.

at first i liked this album, but now i can't stand it. If there's such a thing as being too catchy, they win the award. I don't brood in my bedroom and listen to elliott smith all day, but this band is seemingly so sunshiny that it's sickening. maybe i just had to give them a break.
