"Skeletal Lamping" seems to be the tentative title of their 9th album!

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this for a bit now.

But I hadn't previously heard about the short, segmented songs. I'm really iffy on that. Well, we'll see. No doubt that Kevin Barnes is in fact some sort of crazy genius who has had no problem pulling off new, strange concepts prior... so, I have faith.

Also, Kevin is pretending to be Georgie Fruit, a transgendered black man.

More power to him, I guess? I have faith after Hissing Fauna.

also i read somewhere that kevin barnes perfers to have the o of "of" lowercase and the m of montreal upper.

i've notice on everyones year end list or this thread that most people are capatilizing the o.

Haha, in that case I love of Montreal too...

Nice to see some good bands experimenting a lot. I think Kevin Barnes is just beginning to get comfortable with his new transformation and innovation in both music and persona. Very Bowie-esque. I highly doubt that this album he is talking about will be a critical success, but experiments often pave the way to future greatness.

Red Face Red Face Red Face I've gotta say that I think it sounds like the worst album I've ever heard. I'd be shocked if it weren't all a hoax. Sorry if that offends anyone Big Grin

I guess I won't judge too much. Maybe it could be something new and interesting.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

This is probably my most anticipated album of 2008.

I think it's a cool idea and I'm interested to see if he can pull it off.

I'm just worried that it will skew my last.fm charts Wink

It's absolutely fucking great. I can't decide when I'm going to stop listening to it... I can't listen to anything else.

Much less cryptic than Hissing Fauna... and just as sonically all over the place.

I think my favorite moment is probably that moment 2 minutes into "Nonpareil of Favor" when it's all crash and jam... the most (/only) aggressive album oM has ever put out.

I... I think I'll have to listen to it about five times to figure out whether I love it or hate it.

Kevin Barnes is the last rock star... eccentric, brilliant, and outspoken.

He's probably my favorite musician.

Prepositions should never be capitalized in titles, so that makes perfect sense to me. FWIW.
