Hey, i decided to make my girlfriend Indie love songs CD.

and would like to see your opinion about good songs for it, not too noisey.

This is the ones i decided:

Belle & Sebastian - If ever find yourself caught in love
The Shins - Kissing The Lipless
Elliot Smith - Say Yes
Iron & Wine - Naked as we Came
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane over the Sea
Rufus Wainwright - The One You Love
The Smiths - Theres a Light That Never Goes
Death Cab for Cutie - I will follow you into the dark
Bright Eyes - First Day of my Life
Of Motreal - Your Magic is Working
The Velvet Underground - I'll Be Your Mirror
The Shins - The Past and the Pending
Beulah - If We Can Land a man on the Moon, Surely i can win your Heart
Belle & Sebastian - If she wants me
Bloc Party - The Modern Love
The Postal Service - Such Great Hightes
Of Montreal - Dont Ask me to Explain
Built to Spill - Reasons
Modest Mouse - Sleepwalking

What do you think , and what should i add?

Cheers.

WHAT!!! No Sebadoh?? I highly suggest putting something like "Brand New Love" or "Together or Alone." Lou Barlow has penned some of the most heartwrenching love songs of nearly any indie rocker ever. He built his entire career around it. The man was even on the 1990's MTV series Sex in the 90's talking about how he wanted to slash his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend's tires while wearing a Joy Division "Love Will Tear Us Apart" t-shirt. Priceless.

A few I'd have to add:

"Maps" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Lover's Spit" - Broken Social Scene
"(Are You) The One that I've Been Waiting For" - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
"Good Feeling" - The Violent Femmes
"Come to Me" - Mark Lanegan
"Everybody Here Wants You" - Jeff Buckley
"I'm in Love with A Girl" - Big Star
"Just Like Heaven" - The Cure

Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.

You sure you might not scare your girlfriend with "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"? It's kind of a love song, but kind of weird too (like anything by Neutral Milk Hotel).

The whole "push my fingers through your mouth to make those muscles move" doesn't seem very romantic to me, anyway.

I definitely agree that you could find a bunch of Lou Barlow songs to put on there.

Here are a few additions:

"Car" - Built to Spill (i've never met a girl who didn't like it. However, it can be a little pansy after awhile.)

"The Weather" - Built to Spill

"I Summon You" - Spoon

"I'll Believe in Anything" - Wolf Parade

you know, i thought about putting that in my post, but i can't always tell whether that song is all heartbreak or what. beautiful song though. and i agree that it would be good for that kind of mix tape.

I'm not saying it's a bad song - in fact it's a fantastic song. I was just questioning the "love song" characteristics of it is all.

Well it may have lyrics that might freak people out but that doesn't change the fact that it is a love song. I mean "Love to be/ In the arms of all I'm keepin here with me" I mean it's more a declaration of resignation of a lover long dead but still it is love he's declaring for her.

i think anything by the dismemberment plan is great....that song is about a failed relationship, though, isn't it?

dismemberment plan's "the city" would be a great one (if it's about a girl....it's a little ambiguous).
