I'm still a n00b (so it would be put) for the majority of indie stuff, but can't agree with you more on the Canada stuff--specifically, Arcade and Pornographers. (Just discovered the latter today, and Arcade's an old Musical friend.)

There are a lot of similar threads to this, which is probably why not many people have replied. Here's one.

Oh sorry. I misunderstood the thread. You're asking what country has the most essential indie albums. I see. You might want to change the title to incorporate the country theme. I think most people will see this and think it's another "top indie albums" thread.

I'm with MJ on the cities idea. Maybe someone should start a new thread on that, if it doesn't already exist. I think I'll adapt an old post of mine:

Omaha:

5. Little Brazil - You and Me
4. The Faint - Wet from Birth
3. Tilly and the Wall - Wild Like Children
2. Cursive - The Ugly Organ
1. Bright Eyes - Digital Ash in a Digital Urn

Canada and America seem to be the best countries for quirky indie rock, while Sweden corners the market in super-saccharine indie pop.

That's what i find a bit sad about canadian indie music. The most well-known actual artists from Canada/Quebec makes pop or pop-rock and it's always what is popular...always pop. I would prefer that american people know much more about Below the sea than Stars for example.
