I'm a big fan of the leak when it comes to stuff I'm excited about. Number one on my list right now is the new Of Montreal. If you look at my last.fm profile, you'll see that it's quite clear that they're one of my favorite bands... Hissing Fauna... has leaked and it's probably their best album. They combined the consistency of Satanic Panic with the phenomenal songs of the first half of Sunlandic Twins to make something unbelievable. It's not due until late January, the same date as the apparently-now-leaked Shins album. Why those two are coming out in the middle of winter is beyond me, but it's still summer in Charleston.

I've heard both albums. The Shins is different from their previous albums (more synths, heavier guitar) and I'm going to hold off on an opinion for now because it might grow on me. Their albums usually do. I'm glad, however, that they are trying to expand their sound. Their live show could sure use a kick in the ass and this album might give it that.

I'm not a huge Of Montreal guy, though Satanic Panic is great. It's definitly not as good as that but it might be better than Sunlandic Twins. I'm sorry I can't give a better explanation than that.
