Is it just me or was this overlooked?

I never really got hooked on it. I prefer Pig Lib, but that's just me.

I thought it was a solid album, but his first solo effort was the best Pavement album in years. Cool

Its an excellent album, all 3 of his solo albums have been good and some real gems on them.

I think I like the first the best, poppy and easy to get into.

Goathouse,

I too feel Face the Truth did not garner the long and adoring stares it deserved. There is so much to love, and in my love-fueled frenzy it is difficult to restrain my fingers from typing out the song titles, exclamation points, and acrynoms that might properly relay just how much I love this album. Perhaps my message-board ambrosia will elevate the albums place in the metacritic-readers' consciousness. Surely, it will elevate me later.

it kills!!!

I, too, prefer Pig Lib, but FTT was a really good album. I won't dispute that.

Oh, gosh, ELEVATE ME LATER hahahah that's funny. OK, I'm probably ridic for saying this, but I'm a huge Pavement fan, and I've never even heard a single Malkmus solo song. I'll atone for this now, and listen t..."Pig Lib"?

The other two have their moments, but I'd say his first self-titled solo album is the best. I think it has the most memorable songs on it.

A "huge" pavement fan and you haven't heard a single Malkmus solo song?

This doesn't make sense. Indeed, it is "ridic". You had no interest in hearing the songwriter/singer/guitarist of a band you're a huge fan of...

It seems a fairly common response: "I love Pavement...No, I haven't heard the Stephen Malkmus album...

Anyway, it is odd. Indeed, a huge Pavement fan would likely like Pig Lib. If it doesn't work for you give the self-titled or face the truth a shot before you pack it in.
