Have heard a handful of tracks only, but goddamn, this is the most exciting band I've heard since Liars and Lightning Bolt arrived.

What do others think???

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,
Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene;
As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,
So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

Battles is spectacular. You know their drummer played in Helmet, right? I can't wait for the full-length, FINALLY.

I mean, it's pretty damn good, but I don't think it'll make my top 5. Actually, at this point, I'm pretty positive it won't make it.

I like it more than "Person Pitch" though (which I do like...)

Looks like the Fork agreed with the love you guys were feeling on this. 9.1. Damn, that's pretty strong. I watched the video for "Atlas" and its good stuff.

Wow. That was some pretty hardcore stuff. Playing guitar and keyboard at the same time?

That said, I thought the music was only okay. Is all of their stuff instrumental? I don't really like purely instrumental bands - I think an instrumental song on an album is great (I love Islands' Tsuxiit) but it gets boring after a while.

on first listen, i didnt get all worked up over it. though it is undeniably an original and well conceived album upon first impression. the first track, Race In, really excited me. Snare Hunger as well.

You can check out the stream on myspace, but yes, its almost entirely instrumental. There's some vocal stuff on a few tracks, but they're hardly "lyrics".

I didn't really think this cd was that great. It had some moments, but overall I was kind of bored by it.

Then again, I'm not really into instrumental stuff that much.

I thought "Atlas" was pretty cool. The video really adds a bunch to my enjoyment, however. I've streamed the entire album 3-4 times now, and I'm not really getting into it. It may be a genre thing for me personally, though. Fans of mathy instrumental post rock should like this a lot.

I saw these guys at Coachella a couple weeks ago....Oh. My. Goodness.

If you ever get a chance to see them, GO! They are awesome live...incredible musicians. Its really cool to watch them create their unique sounds on stage, it gave me an ever greater appreciation of the album.

Awesome band...hopefully they have a follow up to Mirrored on the horizon.
