this poll is much too vague... you need two separate polls... like fave new pornos album and fave non new pornos album by band members

Agreed with Sh6ne. My favorite has to be Twin Cinema, followed by Challengers. However, Fox Confessor gives Twin Cinema a run for its money in overall quality.

I pick Mass Romantic, and I don't think any of the band members' albums even approach the poppy goodness of the New Pornographers (except for The Slow Wonder, maybe...). All of the NPs' albums are solid, though.

I still don't think of Neko Case as a member of the NPs. She had a career beforehand, and her records aren't very much like the New Pornos. Hell, she wasn't even with the band the one time I got to see them.

I voted "Twin Cinema". Great pop song after great pop song. My second choice would have been A.C. Newman's "Slow Wonder". That album packs some killer grooves.

Twin Cinema completely destroys the other albums. Well, Mass Romantic is crazy awesome too. And Neko Case's best album is actually "Blacklisted" .

Blacklisted is indeed pretty damn great. I just like Fox Confessor a leeeeettle bit more.

Eric, we're in agreement. I think it is far and away the best of the bunch. Sh6ne, no offense, but I think it's a legitimate poll since they are all members of the same band. Why does it have to be 2 separate polls?

tough to make too many arguments about any one of these albums, I would have to put Twin Cinema and Rubies up near the top though

Twin Cinema is one of my absolute favorite albums, so this was a pretty easy one for me. I'm a big fan of all of the other albums listed, although Challengers is probably my least favorite. It just doesn't have the same 'special something' that TC and MR have. Also: any album with the one-two punch of "Use It" and "The Bleeding Heart Show" wins automatically.

2 great songs, but I'll take "Rubies" and "European Oils" over those two songs any day.

And I'll take "Mass Romantic" and "The Slow Descent into Alcoholism".

Ah, but those aren't one-two punches in the sense that they're not right after each other. So, I still win. Edit: Or, rather, Twin Cinema still wins.

Mass Romantic would be so much better if it were just an EP with about 6 songs. The last half of the album is generally bad. (Body Says No and To Wild Homes are pretty good, but Mary Martin Show? Breakin' the Law? Blech!)
