Eh, after owning it for a year I don't think it comes close to matching the brilliance of the Unicorns.

Are you talking about Islands? It got an 8.4, which is not exactly being "dissed", is it? Unless you have incredibly high standards, in which case I point you over to the "Will P4K give a perfect 10.0 this year?" thread.
Agree, but where was it during the end of the year "Best of" list? That's actually what I meant.

I liked it, but it's a little uneven. Definitely loses steam after "Volcanoes". However, "Rough Gem" is probably the best song of last year. Wolf Like Who?

This album will be exhumed! Mark my textual words!

Well uh, the whole "this album will be exhumed" part. I thought it was clear.

Well, when something is textual that means that what you said, the "this album will be exhumed" part, is related to or based on some kind of text. In other words, that phrase was first stated in some kind of book. So my question is, where did you get that phrase from?

I believe the "text" is the MC Forums, right here in this thread. This thread may even be added to the Bible. (Then again, it could just go down like Atlantis, but that means it could still be "exhumed".)

I never heard of them until I saw them open for Metric at the Fonda. They totally killed it! they were received so well that they stayed in LA an extra week. I bought their album soon after and I've been loving it ever since. I bought the Unicorns album too because of the lead singer and I like it as well.

Hey that's cool, that album from last year was pretty good. However, I don't really like the Unicorns and everyone says they are much better than Islands. Are they really worth it?

I never heard the Unicorns, but I love Islands. It's pretty twee, but it also has a great sense of humor. Check out these tracks; they're pretty representative. I love "Whalebone." http://www.myspace.com/islandsareforever

Oops! My bad-bad; I should have said "Mark my digital-typescript words, this album [will} resurface as an 'under-appreciated' indie masterpiece".

Islands twee? Go give The Unicorns Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? a listen... Personally, the Unicorns trumped Islands. The album is alright, but I coulldn't help starting to compare the two bands, getting tired of Islands and putting the Unicorns on instead.

Maybe we need a "Who is the most twee?" thread. My vote goes to The Boy Least Likely To, whom I happen to love, but they are as twee as it gets!

Yeah, Boy Least Likely To is a little over-precious. I'd probably give the prize to Architecture in Helsinki, though. As much as I think they've got interesting song arrangements, they really, really sound like they're singing to five-year-olds.

Well I don't know about that, but it was probably the best song on the album. Coincidentally, it's the song that sounds most like the Unicorns.

The Unicorns songs are definatley real songs. In fact, if you really want, you can read a lot into their lyrics. I'm not sure if they intended (they probably did) but there is definately substance in this seemingly superficial band.
