"Ready For the Floor" is the new single from Hot Chip's Made In The Dark. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about it in blogs and even some cases where people are calling it the best pop single of 2008!?! Other's are saying it's absolutely shite.

There's also a bit of a history to the song. I guess the band thought it was so good they were going to give it to Kylie Minogue. They apparently decided to reconsider and kept the song for themselves either because Kylie didn't want it or they wanted to keep it.

The first time I listened to it I didn't think too much of it, but the second time I heard it I basically had a eureka moment and now I am on the bandwagon.

So what does everyone else think of it?

I think it's bloody brilliant! I wasn't taken with it much at first, but its grown on me tremendously.

Reminds me of a time SNL did a skit on the best films of the year...only it was January, and like 2 films had come out. So obviously, they had to pick "Child's Play" or whatever it was about...

How can you call the song the best single of '08 when it is Dec of '07?

PS - I think it is apretty sweet song, and I like the video alot...

It's a catchy song, maybe a little too mellow for me to really love, but good.

their first album (The Warning) was a pleasant surprise for me cause i dont hear very often great elctronica albums with indie roots.theres so many highlights in it (And I Was A Boy From School , Over And Over, No Fit State , Colours)n Th e Warning definitely deserve a place in the best albums of 2006.

from their new tracks i only know "shake a fist" n i have to tell you that they sound even better m more mature and exciting , the production and the composition is more complicated.its a step forward for them n their new album , according to some of their recent interviews , sounds very promising.

their first album was actually "Coming On Strong", not "The Warning".
