best book ever? i beg to differ. i thought the first one was much better. it is realy slow in the begening, even though it opens with the whole death scene and everything. its not as well written as the first one. the first one was very good though

I thought the first one was pretty good too, until I reread it before reading the second one. They both simply aren't written particularly well. The story is easily the strong point of them both, and a few of the characters are pretty good, but the dialogue is pretty bad sometimes and the descriptions aren't great. I suppose neither of the books could really be called "bad," but as far as fantasy novels go, I've read much better. Paolini is young, though. He has potential and plenty of time to improve... if the early fame doesn't spoil him.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.
