Anyone dig the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini? Smiler

I love Eragon; in fact, it's one of my favorite fantasy novels. It takes you there and back and forces tension with a serene subtlety. Eldest has a great story, but it's also dangerously overwrought and overflowing with purple prose, making it hard to read.

What's your opinion?

Yes, Eragon is great. I like the ancient language approach and the plot is enticing. Eldest (book 2) is probably a bit more in my taste though. While Eragon occasionally left me forcing my eyes open, Eldest carried me through three distinct plots (Varden being the 3rd) and kept my mind busy and preoccupied keeping these plots in an organized and followable fashion.

I enjoy the eragon series, but they aren't ground breaking or original, to me they are derivative of almost every classic fantasy tale ever told...he takes bits and pieces and weaves them together well, and i think PART of the allure of the series is Paolinis realtively young age...they are enjoyable books but I don't find them that original.

There's also a movie based on this.

Anyone watched it yet?
