With all of the Comic-Based movies coming out & the interest of comics growing with each one released, I was curious, who are your favorite heroes? I'm talking about out of EVERY comic out there, not just mainstream, but independent titles & one-shots or mini-series'. You can do a top ten or even 20. It's all up to you ! I'll kick it off.

It might sound cliche', but Wolverine has ALWAYS been my favorite. Wolverine #36 was the first comic I've ever read, & he was BAD! I didn't understand what was going on at the time, but he & Puck had gone back in time & were fighting Nazi's. James Howlet (AKA Wolverine) actually beat a few of them to death with a ball-pean hammer & an adjustable wrench & he did this AFTER being shot multiple times with a machine gun at point blank range! The most BAD @SS moment was when his gun jammed & he says, "What the heck. I'm not too crazy about guns to begin with." Then he opens his shirt to reveal his costume & pulled on his mask & there is this gorgous panel of him popping his claws through the smoke, coming at the Nazi soldiers & he says, "It sure don't hurt to be the best at what I do." Then there's panel after panel of him slicing these guys to ribbons! Until this point, I had no idea he had claws! At the end they have Lady Deathstrike heading for Wolverine & then it's "to be continued..." I never got to finish the story, but I did get many more of his comics, including the 'Origin' mini-series. My favorite artists on his books were Adam & Andy Kubert. Their work is beautiful. I love him because he isn't afraid of anything or anyone! He isn't the biggest guy, but he's certainly the toughest!

Some of my other favorites are:

Jackie Estacado- He's more of an anti-hero, since in the beginning, he used his powers to help pull "jobs" as a hitman. However, he did end up saving the city on more than a few occasions & even teamed with Batman at one point.

The Savage Dragon- He's a cop with a mysterious past that even he can't remember. He doesn't even know why he's green or even why he has a giant fin on his head. He's bulletproof & one tough hombre'!

Poet- He was the most powerful of all of the others & the one who got everyone else to band together & save humanity from itself.

Scud- He was a hero, mostly because he didn't want to die. Upon learning that he would explode upon termination of his target, he severly wounded "her" & then took odd jobs to keep "her" alive on life support. Many of these jobs required he save someone or a town or such. A crazy & hilarious series!

Batman- Of course, I love the Dark Knight! A "regular" millionaire who puts on a costume to respect the memory of his parents who were killed by a common thug. He has a crazy rogues gallery & interesting adventures.

Hulk- Who doesn't dream of becoming a big mound of muscle when they get angry?! In the beginning he was a mindless brute, but was still not an evil character. Nowadays, he's the biggest & greenest than he'd ever been & he even has his intelligence!

Ash- He's a firefighter who has fire-based powers. So, he's a superhero in both of his identities! It's a great read!

Hellboy- I love the idea of a monster fighting monsters & he is just a kind-hearted tough guy!

Pretty much every cop in 'Top 10'- They all have special abilities & are just awesome. It really is hard to pick just one!

Well, that's my top 10 favorite heroes, however not really in that order. I'd say Wolverine is my #1 & the others are ALL #2 ! So, now it's your turn, who are your favorite heroes?

Good thread MB. Batman is my all time favorite. I love the psychology of the character. He's dark, violent and comsumed by revenge. The Dark Knight Returns is my favorite, but I love The Killing Joke, and the Long Halloween.

In a similar vein Rorsharch from The Watchmen is a great character. He's not just consumed by revenge, he's also a sociopath and a bit unstable.

I also love John Constantine. He's got a great personality as this smug Englishman who happens to dabble in black magic. He's got all kinds of charisma and could talk someone in to killing themself, start a prison riot, or cook up some voodoo hex. He's also morally troubled by all the people who are dead because of him.

Can't wait for the "World War Hulk" storyline. I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see the Hulk serve Tony Stark his iron head on a plate.

Sometimes it depends on the writer but not always. I've always liked Hulk and Dr.Strange. Thor was especially good when Walt Simonson wrote him. I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see Thor kick Reed Richards & Tony Stark into some unescapable dimension for creating the Thor clone- "Clor". Daredevil has always been a favorite, most always well written. Too bad the movie version sucked to no end. I also like Spiderwoman and Elektra.

Is Concrete considered a superhero? Always liked Concrete. And the Spirit. Glad to see DC brought the Spririt back.

Did you ever read the "Heroes Reborn" stories? They got alotta groans, but in the first few 'Iron Man' issues, they told the origin of the Hulk as well as Iron Man. Surprisingly enough, we got a bad @ss fight between the two by the second issue & the Hulk wiped the floor with Iron Man's iron hide ! I wasn't into the "Heroes Reborn" books too much, but I loved this story. The Hulk was HUGE!!!!

I probably should have have called this thread 'Who Are Your Favorite Comic Book Characters', I would hate to exclude characters such as him! Don't exclude books like 'Concrete', 'Strangers in Paradise', or 'Cerebus', just because they aren't TRUE superhero comics. Go nuts, everyone! Who are your favorites?

I skimmed through a few "Heroes Reborn" stories. They weren't too bad though I never read them on a regular basis.

Also want to mention my favorite manga character, close to a super-heroine, I suppose: M-zak from "Seraphic Feather".

I forgot about Black Bolt. I used to have a cool black light Black Bolt poster many moons ago.

Also favorites: Red Sonja, Dreadstar and Silver Surfer.

Love the Surfer.

I particularly like the way he has such empathy for the pathetic human race, who abuse him at every turn, and yet still, he sits above the earth talking philosophy to himself, wondering how to help his new found brothers and sisters.

I was never really into comics, but I guess my two favorite are The Flash and The Mighty Thor. My dad still has some 1st ed. Flash books.

Green Lantern. Just hide those daffodils.

the green lantern. the jordan and gardener ones are the two best. Jordan cause he has the best comics, and gardner is a flat out b.a. Plus, its like a whole interstellar mythology. When is the last time you've seen batman go to the cyborg planet

but nothing tops those batman villains. they are all so menacing

My favourite in recent times has been X-23, a female clone of Wolverine. Much like Wolverine she has a very deep and interesting backstory, but it's interesting to see her try and live life as normal teenage girl. Both of here series Innocence Lost and Target X have been excellent, she's also written well in the New X-men series (but not so much for her short time in Uncanny X-Men). I'd love to see her make an appearance in the upcoming Wolverine movie.

Hmm..only Western comics? I'm a big fan of manga. Ogami Itto [Lone Wolf and Cub] is, I think my favourite. Also "V" (of Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta") and Rorsharch.

I wouldn't mind having Hong Kong Phooey on my team, as he seems to bewilder the opposition.

Either him or Hawkman.

1:spiderman-who wouldnt want to swing from a web and climb up buildings

2:the old hulk (not the peice of crap from the new movie)the old hulk couldnt talk wich is kool and couldnt jump 5 mile but he was still strong and mistakin for a bad guy but kould understand stuff and in the first movie he tried to help a little girl who was drownig by lifting up a tree anhangin it above the water "Kool"

3:human torch- "flame on" it would be kool s to be able to say that all the time then turn on fire.

4:jean/the pheniox-it would be great to be phscic.

5:storm-i would love to change the weather.
