I only read Ender's Shadow and Ender's game and I really enjoyed both. Has anybody else read any of the books in the series? What do people think of them?

I read Ender's Game and the next two when I was in fifth or sixth grade. I loved Ender's game, but the other two were too tedious and political for me at that age. I ought to try them again some day.

I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

I dropped out after the third volume, "ZZZZZzzzzzzzenocide."

That one certainly cured my insomnia.

I much prefer Mr. Card's work in the short story format.

Most people liked the series that followed Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets

I personally liked the series that followed Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide.

The former is more of the "action" type. The latter is more philosphical. I still haven't read Children of the Mind or Shadow of the Giant. But I will probably read neither Wink

There is going to be a movie you know! Hopefully they won't do like they did to Eragon and hand directing rights over to a fellow that's never done a directorial job in his life. Yes, the director for this upcoming flick has only done special effects on A Perfect Storm and Twister I believe. Pathetic, I know. If I'm not mistaken, though, they have Card on board as the screen writer, which'll be nice. Lets all pray that they don't try to write Ender's story into one 2 1/2 hour movie and then do a straight to video flick about Bean!

Wow! Thanks, for the heads up.

I'm not sure if I want Wolfgang Petersen to direct though. I would have wanted Verhoeven to do it, but he hasn't been up to speed lately. Besides I can always watch Starship Troopers.

Ive read the entire series and while I prefer the originals to the shadows the shadow of hegemon and partly enders shadow is just kick ass Big Grin I think Children of the mind and speaker for the deadmust be my fav ones tough.. The original while a good book is not as much a masterpiece as the others but it can be easly read for a good standalone SF book..

Im very edgy about the movie as its either gonna suck big time or rock the earth Big Grin

have any of you read the shadow of the giant? it is probably one of my favorites. the children of the mind is great as well. although the whole series is amazing. the shadow series is the better of the two. bean is so amazing. and peter is so mysterious and sexxy. i feel so terrible for him because of the way his parents feel about him. everyone thinks he's a monster. he is by far my favorite character. i nearly cry every time he feels pain. Frowner are there any books after the shadow of the giant?

I loved the shadow series just because it not only followed Bean's story, but it followed Peter's story. It showed that the people he LOVED made him the way he was. I loved the ender series because Ender, in my opinion, dies happy. Overall, the Ender series is a very depressing series, so it's nice to see Ender's pain come to a close.

I've read Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, Children of the Mind and Ender's Shadow. Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow are Great Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide and Children of the Mind are a little slower paced, but the end of Children of the Mind rocks. I'm just now starting book Shadow Of The Hegemon.

I read Shadow Puppets. The book is interesting but moves at a VERY slow pace. Plus, I had to question Card's ability to "manipulate" the Muslims, whose actions are "undetected."

We live in a world of great intelligence and information, so I found certain parts of this book to be largely primitive.
