I think all 3 systems out now have strengths, but for some reason I always have the most fun on a Dreamcast.
Which ones do you find yourself going back to more?
Mine are: Toy Commander, Virtua Tennis, Samba de Amigo and Street Fighter Alpha 3. If it weren't for their sequels, Soul Caliber and Dead or Alive 2 would be on there.
Easily one of the best systems in history. The Nintendo should have just bought Sega, scrapped plans for the GameCube, and continued developing for the Dreamcast.
My favorites:
Soul Calibur Ikaruga Daytona USA Illbleed Resident Evil 2 Power Stone 2

That's funny. As a "late bloomer" in gaming terms (my first system was an Xbox) Ive only heard negative things about the Dreamcast, but every time Im played felt wonderful. What were people's criticisms about the system?

That's funny, because I've never heard ANYTHING negative about the Dreamcast. Sega just couldn't make console sales work economically. The Dreamcast is one of the most beloved systems in history. I bought a couple of them when they went down to 50 bucks.

The DC was a fantastic system with tons of fantastic games and it did pretty well in Japan. It just sold really badly everywhere else. Most people put it down to bad timing for a new console.

Anybody ever play and /or find "Wetrix" or "ChuChu Rocket"? those games were awesome. apparently some old games ("radiant silvergun") are now going for $200!

My Dreamcast top 10 1. Soul Calibur 2. Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes 3. Crazy Taxi 4. Jet Grind Radio 5. Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram 6. Techromancer 7. Power Stone 2 8. Sonic Adventure 9. Grandia 2 10. Guilty Gear X
The Dreamcast never really got BAD reviews... it was just that most gamers in the west were Playstation owners, and Sony told it's fans to hold out and wait for the PS2. When the PS2 came out developers and fans jumped on it leaving Dreamcast dead in the water.
The old DS is still a system that's universally loved by both hardcore and casual gamers. It had a lot of fun and addicting arcade style titles that anyone could jump into and enjoy.
Dreamcast is a great console with some awesomely fun games but i think it did so badly because the actul system was flawed it was unreliable and sometimes didnt work and many of the original make's were returned faulty + it just felt unfinished to me i dunno with a bit more work on it i think it would be contesting the best console unlike being concinderd the worst and to what rayray said i totally agree if nintendo had bought sega scrapped the bad parts of the gamecube and dreamcast and maybe make a sorta GCDM hybrid it would of owned!
my top 5 games for it tho are: 1)Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio) 2)Power Stone 2 3)Soul Calibur 4)Marvel Vs Capcom 2 5)Quake 3
I've never actually played Dreamcast, but many of it's good games were ported to other systems. I just started Skies of Arcadia: Legends on Gamecube, which is one such game. It's awesome so far. Actually, though, I've heard the GC version is better.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

Oh, something else...because you're all Dreamcast fans, you're all automatically cool. Don't you feel that the xbox is the successor to the dreamcast. I so wanted Microsoft to buy Sega. Too bad that Sega has such pathetic marketing.
I still have my Dreamcast...although the condition it is in is a little suspect. Haha.
But honestly, I believe it was/is one of the greatest consoles of all-time. Not just for the fun, quirky games....but the introduction of online play to console owners started with the DC.
The best games on the DC, IMO: Soul Calibur (One of the greatest games of all-time...period), Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Skies Of Arcadia, Grandia II, Rez, Power Stone(2), Virtua Tennis....
If the DC has another year or two added onto its lifespan, it could have achieved great things.
the price originally, but the lack of a DVD player, plus bad marketing, plus the arrival of the PS2.
I've always LOVED the dreamcast. In fact, I own 2. It had a great game selection, worked well and provided a great experience. I HATED to see it go.
I'm really agg'ed at SEGA. They have always had such shitty marketing. The Dreamcast could've made it, if they'd hung on, beefed up marketing, and improved gameplay.

I really like Soul Calibur and the original Sonic Adventure (despite the "Big the Cat" missions). Also, one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played is Worms: Armageddon. That game was great and funny. Also, Crazy Taxi is good and has a better control scheme than the PS2 and GC version.
Also, Sega Direct of Japan are selling refurbished Dreamcasts and new games. This means Sega may have a come back in the gaming industry, possibly bringing back the Dreamcast to commercial mainstream once again. Also, if you go to certain game shops (such as Video Game Underground in Toledo, Ohio), you can buy new imported games for the Dreamcast. At the most, these games are $80, but can be found around $30 sometimes. Just letting you know.
