It will.

So, for the privileged few who have played it, what's the original Suikoden like? Suikoden II is one of my favourite RPGs, mind. I'd also like to know a bit more about Valkyrie Profile and Vandal Hearts.

I've never played any of those games. Although I saw VP once... for like $45 US. But the consensus on all of the is that they're damn good. I believe Suikoden II is generally held to be better than the original, though.

I'm nearly finished with Final Fantasy IX. It's a pretty good game... but nothing mind-blowingly awesome. Except a couple songs on the soundtrack. Some of those are definitely mind-blowingly awesome.

What's best about Final Fantasy Tactics is it's versatility. You can basically play the game any way you want.

You can literally play it through 50 times and it be a totally different game every time. And sure, it's super-easy if you use Agrias and Orlandu and all the neat broken calculator skills, but if you limit yourself to using the more obscure skills...best gameplay ever.

And you can keep upping the challenge until it gets too hard for you. I beat it using only five bards, and only bard skills. Then I tried beating it using only Ramza with only mediator skills...THAT was impossible.

But you can limit yourself to spells, limit yourself to a certain level...and you'll keep having to find new ways to beat enemies you already beat.

Not to mention the second best plot ever in a video game to Xenogears. FFT has got to be my #1 favorite video game ever.

--

Valkyrie Profile rules too, but there's one problem. The B ending sucks and it's nearly impossible to figure out how to get the A ending without help. So if you're playing VP for the first time, it's the only time I would ever recommend cheating. Look up the sequence of events you have to activate to get the A ending.

I have owned and beat FF tactics and had heard that you can find special characters in it like Cloud from FF7. I beat it and did not get the character so he might be terribly wrong.

Anyone played Vagrant Story or Vanguard Bandits? I have them both as well as Hoshigami and haven't played them and was wondering what there like and if there any good. I actually did play Hoshigami for a while and it was terrifyingly hard. Anyways any opinions on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard Hoshigami is terrible. Mixed reviews on VS, and haven't heard much on VB, so you might as well try it. I believe it's similar to FFT.

You can get Cloud in FFT, but I'm not sure how, as I've never done it. Try GameFAQs.com if you really want to know.

Starocean 2 is definitely one of the best for psx and its one of my favs along with fftactics.... but I believe games like fft shouldnt be in the same category as normal rpgs when you are reccomending them though.

on another note make sure to try out romancing saga 3 starocean and tales of phantasia for snes

FFT is simply a tactical-rpg, and it's not everyone who likes RPG that likes Tactical-RPG. The most powerful "hidden" caracter I discovered in FFT is that kind of giant robot who can kill a summoner or a wizard by one shot!

Suikoden is good but not a patch on Suikoden II. I actually played the second one first and as a result was disapointed a little. Just think of it a S2 but shorter and not as expansive. I haven't played Valkyrie Profile but Vandal Hearts II is a good little game, similar to FF tactics Advance (i have only played the GBA version as FFT was never released on PAL.) Frowner

Do you have the patch still? Your playing the game without any movies, right? Do you think you could mail that pacth to me? My froze up on me at a certain part, too.

I love Asure Dreams, I've owned that game (liturally & figurativly) so many times.
My favorite games ever are:
Final Fantasy 8
Asure Dreams
Breath of Fire 3
Final Fantasy Tactics
and every other RPG is tied for 5th.
(yes you can get cloud in tactics but it is complicated, like really complicated, you need to read the guide)

The patch makes the movies work fine, actually. Just type in "Final Fantasy VII XP Patch" into Google and you should be able to find it without much trouble. My current computer does not have the game or the patch on it.
