Did anyone used to own an Amiga? Either 500 or 1200. Back then, the graphics just seemed incredible, a real step up from 8-bit machines. Also, PCs had virtually no market penetration in the home around this time.

It was cool to play Speedball 2 and then boot up Dpaint and do a bit of doodling.

Yes, I did. Almost bought the orginal A1000, but waited a few weeks for the A500 to come out and was in heaven (at the time).

Way ahead of its time. 4096 color display, stereo sound, true multi-tasking way back in 1986. I think only the early MAC can claim that (at the consumer level).

Pretty cool machine, I had two 3.5 floppy drives and 1 meg of ram. No HD. LOL!!!

But it rocked!!!!

(errr still does... I still have it!!!!)

I think I had an A1500.

I spent most of my childhood playing Fairy Tale, Speedball 2, The Chaos Engine, Gods, Paper Boy, Turrican 2, St Dragon, Wings, Sherman 64 etc.

Man, those were the days.

Another world, Lemmings, Cannon Fodder, Gods, Superfrog, Fire and Ice, Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions, Monkey Island series, and the Deluxe Paint games were great.

Sadly, Owned.

It was great....the best games by far I had on it that I still remember til this day and always regret ever letting the Amiga go were

Eye of the Beholder
Shadow of the Beast
Impossible Mission
Day Of the Viper

and finally, Future Wars

I'd recommend all those games as Must-Haves'

Smiler The games for the Amiga were way ahead of thier time. I remember midwinter and midwinter two were wonderful open world games with multiple weapons and vehichles. Damocles was another favorite of mine where you travelled about in space. Dungeon master, eye of the beholder, too many excellent games to choose from. I now use a PS3 and love it although i do miss the freedom and creativity of games in the old days.
