Nicholas Cage returns in another unsympathetic, dramatic role - this time as a television weatherman in the middle of a marital separation and dysfunctional children along with a strong supporting role from Michael Caine as his father who himself is facing a major life challenge. This is clearly a drama with only a sometimes whimsical narrative-commentary from Nicolas Cage. This movie is serious, probing the current societal issue of marital conflict and its impacts on the parents and their children, its about other important sociological issues regarding today's grandparents. It's relevant. It's harsh. The ending may even have a meaningful message. A great movie for those who can stomach it.
