American History X is one of those movies that with the wrong cast and crew could have been just another racist neo nazi hate film, but it definitely wasn't, I was actually required to watch this movie in high school and I loved it, I just recently re-watched it, and after watching it again I don't know how Edward Norton didn't get an Oscar for his role as Derek Vinyard, if anyone hasn't already seen this film, go rent it or buy it, it is worth every penny
