Angelina Jolie as Marianne Pearl, wife of the slain journalist, offers one of the most riveting and shocking scenes in movie history on learning about her husband's demise. The rest of her performance is compelling. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie is filled with wasted scenery and a lack of focus on Daniel Pearl himself that based on comments late in the movie would have been much more revealing about the basic human integrity and fortitude that this man possessed. On the whole the movie suffered from uneven editing, slow pacing, and erratic script continuity.
