There's nothing like the energy of a great reggae show! I'd love to see Max Romeo! Some of my favourite reggae shows have been Israel Vibration, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Culture and Burning Spear.

You've seen some great stuff man. Burning Spear! Max was funny. He's nearly 70, and he danced around for almost 2 hours in a bright yellow suit. Hopefully other disciples will flock to the ghettoised reggae section here in 'World,' and we can rise up and claim our own category on the main page. Them belly full, but we still hungry...

If you live in the Pacific Northwest I recommend seeing Clinton Fearon. An original member of the Gladiators, he puts on a really lively concert.

I saw him live recently. He's...a character.

I saw the skatalites about 8 years ago, and they were amazing. Some of the players were pretty beat up at that point, and needed walkers and canes to get onstage, but once the music started, they played like they were still 20 years old. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

I haven't had the chance to see good raeggae, living in Colorado. There are a couple wannabe reggae bands around, but mainly they are sad. I've really been enjoying the Congoes' "Heart of the Congoes" very much as of late. It was produced by Lee Perry, so it's got the dub feel, and the harmony is amazing - very spare, but gorgeous and haunting. My other current favorite is Toots and the Maytals. Their album Funky Kingston is classic.
