The PGA announced today their five nominees for Best Picture of 2004. They were:
"The Aviator" "Finding Neverland" "The Incredibles" "Million Dollar Baby" "Sideways"
I've seen the first three films on the list and plan to see the other two. I'm glad somebody in Hollywood has the guts to name an animated film as one of the five best of the year and put it into competition against "regular" films. (I'm not counting the Hollywood Foreign Press; they do it regularly.) Ever since the Academy made a Best Animated Film category to ghettoize, I mean, "honor" them, I've doubted that they would ever nominate animation for the BIG PRIZE again (the lone time to-date was "Beauty and the Beast".)
I'm pretty sure the Oscars will nominate "The Aviator", "Million Dollar Baby" and "Sideways" for Best Picture, but the other two spots are wide-open. I know at least one film I'd love to see there. Anyone have any opinions on these latest Award nominaions?

Hmmmm... The choice of movies for this list doesnt surprise me but I still dont think Sideways and The Aviator should be on it. Maybe Sideways should, maybe is as much as I'm giving it, but the Aviator I dont think deserves that spot over many other films this year which I found better. I am also not positive that the Aviator will go for oscar nomination but now, I suppose it will....
