What is your favorite film so far this year???

For me, it would definitely be Dogville, though I also really enjoyed Eternal Sunshine.

Definitely Eternal Sunshine for me. I think that probably tops anything I saw last year too.

For some reason, I got a unique thrill from the remake of Dawn of the Dead. It's rare that a horror remake gets it so right. Eternal Sunshine lacked a little bit of focus for me, but still good.

I dont usually see many films at the cinemas becuase I usually dont enjoy them there. See tacky decor, sticky floors, obnoxious people all around, people with mobile phones. So Ive only seen Kill Bill Vol 2 so I guess that wins by default.

Yeah, I'd have to go with Eternal Sunshine ... with Kill Bill coming in a close second.

Although, I don't know if I've even SEEN any other movies this year. Yikes.

I think it's a consensus...Eternal Sushine was awesome. I have a hard time thinking of a better love story conveyed on film. Kill Bill Vol. 2 was also great.

I'd have to go with Kill Bill Vol. 2 as my favorite movie so far this year. It was such great closure to the first Volume.

It's really tough to say, innit? Eternal Sunshine was unquestionably, unfortunately about 20 minutes long (even if those 20 minutes are no less brilliant than any of the others). With the ending lopped off at the point when he wakes up and starts to go through the same routine as earlier, it would be flawless. Meanwhile, Kill Bill really is one movie, and I can't say that I regard the second one as perfect independent of the first, as great as it is. Joined together, they're brilliant.

So I guess Dogville through the process of elimination? There haven't been that many other strong contenders so far this year from either the mainstream or indie spheres.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Yeah, Vol. 2 was great but the fact that Kill Bill wasn't realeased all at once cheapens Tarantino's work. I don't care how long it would have turned out to be... never a dull moment to begin with.

Never Die Alone has been my guilty pleasure so far in 2004.

I don't even know how guilty of a guilty pleasure that is; it was a pretty great movie =)

It even did pretty well on Metacritic, didn't it? 71 or something?

Best wishes,

Eternal Sunshine was great, kill bill 2, hellboy and even Shrek 2 imo. I've been working on a personal site with reviews since March 1st. I've seen a movie every week and posted a review (for better or worse) on my site. Well, the movie reviews is only part of the site.

I cannot say enough about Eternal Sunshine. Moving story, perfect visuals, wicked brainteaser... This is the film to beat in 2004.

I'm gonna have to agree with what seems to be the majority of you guys. Eternal Sunshine definately gets my vote. However, Dawn of the Dead was indeed a surprisingly enjoyable movie.

On that note, just to point something out, whoever said they didn't like watching movies in theaters has got to reconsider, especially for Dawn of the Dead. What made this movie so funny was the fact that people would laugh at the sickest things. For example, as i was watching in the theater, there was a scene where a woman was giving birth to an infected child. As she was giving birth, some blood shot out of her vagina like a super-soaker onto Maki Pheifer's face. Now, this scene alone is by no means funny, however, when the guy behind you in the theater lets out a howling laugh, in a theater of about two-hundred people, blood squirting out of a vagina suddenly becomes hilarious.

And i just want to say that an honorable mention would have to go to Supersize Me, the McDonalds documentary. That movie was freakin hilarious.

I have seen about three movies this year. Missing, Eternal Sunshine, Dawn of the Dead, and Super Size Me.

So, my vote'll have to go to Kill Bill 2!

Recently saw Dogville again, which reinforced my original opinion.

I think IT is the film to beat in 2004. Hands down. Perhaps the most unsettlingly insightful film I have ever seen.

Definitely Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Great, great, great movie!

However, I can't possibly leave out Dawn of the Dead. Amazing movie, and a close second for me. Just so enjoyable!
