Since I almost always write in the music forums, I decided to check out the other parts of Metacritic. I was surprised to see that there was no discussion of Friday Night Lights. I thought Season 1 was one of my 15 favorite seasons ever, of any TV show. Just fantastic. So far I'm a bit dissapointed with Season 2, especiall with the plot of Landry and Tyra.

Does anyone else watch FNl and where you as big a fan of season 1 as I was?

How did I miss this?

Okay, I'll agree that Tyra and Landry's story is kind of lame. However, it is being balanced out by Coach Taylor's decision to return to Dillon. Mrs Coach - to be honest, I keep thinking of her as that Wink - her acting is so fantastic that I almost forget about Tyra and Landry. Matt's still great, too. Season 1 was an amazing season of television - hopefully they'll get through the Tyra/Landry storyline while keeping the show alive.

Are my and Chamberk really the only ones on this site who watch FNL? You guys are missing a fabulous show. Rent the Pilot episode and just try to not continue watching.

I watch it and love it. I think the Tyra/Landry plot is maybe the most extreme thing that's happened, but I think it is presented in a realistic way. Bad, crazy stuff happens to people.

It is completely ridiculous that Connie Britton is overlooked for awards for playing Tami Taylor. That has to mean not enough people are watching. The weak link for me would probably be Minka Kelly playing Lyla. She is great when called to be emotional or upset, but I just don't believe her in regular moments. But, that is an extremely minor thing considering everyone else is so unbelievably good.

My absolute favorite character is Buddy Gerity. I smile everytime that guy is on screen.

I agree with all of this. Now that it seems the Tyra/Landry thing is over, I have to say it didn't turn out as badly as I had feared.

The acting is superb, maybe the best I've ever seen in a show with basically no-name actors. As for favorite characters, I love Buddy, Landry (season 1 more so), Julie, Tami, Smash, Saracen....Ahh, screw it, they are all good.

Yeah, there's something lovable about all of our main characters. Well, maybe not Julie.

I also like that Santiago kid. His plot, especially with Buddy, has been really good so far.

I'm very glad they've got 5-6 episodes left after the break. All my other shows have pretty much run out of episodes these days.

Julie is in my mind one of the best portrayed "teenage" characters TV. The show is never condescending toward her and I find her interaction with her parents extremely relatable. Yes, it shows the rebellious and sometimes dumb decisions she decides to make as she grows up and pushes the envelope with her parents, but also gives note to the fact that she is an intelligent, rational human being (as opposed to the ridiculous, one-dimensional characters that most teen characters are pegged in). The verisimilitude in fact between the whole family (mother-father, father-daughter, and mother-daughter) is actually really incredible.

Season 3 is sooooo much better than 2. So far I think I've seen about nine great episodes out of the eleven they've played so far. I don't have DirecTV but I've been watching all the episodes here: http://brokencontrollers.com/forums/friday-night-lights-online-xyb39

All the actors playing the football players do a good job, especially the guy who plays Boobie.
This movie is heart-wrenching.This is a movie about people, kind of like Seabiscuit that way, except less happy and with no horses.very cool movie awesome..

Wow, i don't even know how to respond to that. You should be nationally syndicated based solely on your Seabiscuit comment.

Oh and by the way, the discussion is about the TV show and not the movie Cochise.

I'm loving how they tied up the storylines for Street and especially Smash. And the actor portraying JD McCoy has created one of the best/worst/best a-hole TV dads.
