Did anyone else watch this last night? I think it's sort of a cool premise and will probably watch a few more episodes. I got sort of a Lost meets The X-Files vibe from it. Anyone else?

I think NBC is doing a two minute recap before tonight's episode, or maybe it's on their website.

You guys are right. Awesome show. I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Lost. Best new show of the season I think.

Smiler Heroes is successfully negotiating the difficult balance between frustrating and relief, between good and evil, between idiotic and comedy, between intense and entertainment. While there are times I am ready to just blow up out of irritation at the almost dumb manipulative and stereotypical scenes, then the script rapidly transforms into a much more complex, dense, and fascinating series of possibilities that rarely have been shown on television. This is a wickly fabulous series so far.

I can't say it enough, this show absolutely rocks. One of my favorite moments of last night's episode was when Hiro's friend convinced him that using his powers to cheat was acceptable. "Is Peter Parker cheating when he sells photographs of Spiderman? Every superhero has a system." Too funny. Also, Claire waking up in the middle of her autopsy was one of the freakiest moments I've seen in a network television show. I'm so hoping this show doesn't get cancelled.

To me, this is a bold, innovative show that's hard to "remote" from. I've always admired Aidan and Milo Ventimiglia as cuties that can think and speak intelligently! Kudos to the writers and let's hope they don't get dumped.

I think there is too much positive buzz for the show to get dumped. I agree with you, eric, Claire on the autopsy table was definitely one of the freakier things I've seen on network tv. Hiro is quickly becoming my favorite character. I loved how after he influenced the roulette ball, he saves the waitress from spilling the drink, as if he just balanced out the wrong with a right. There's really too much to talk about with this show IMO. The only thing that worries me is if it does survive to after the new year, it's in 24's time slot! Red Face

That is a drag. Network TV has a tendancy to put my favorite shows on opposite one another. I can always TiVO one of them...but which one? I guess it'll depend on how engrossed I am in "Heroes" by the time "24" rolls around.

I'm in the same boat. I'll probably end up TiVOing Heroes since there is a 24 discussion group at my office on Tuesday mornings.

Unfortunately for me this was one of the weakness scenes of the series not for its concept but for its execution. With the advances in special effects and make-up, like CSI, etc., this scene looked so artificial that it ruined it for me. The open ribcage looked like something painted on over plastic molds - it would have been hilarious if it wasn't supposed to have looked real. Too bad.

I'll buy that. The concept was great though.

I guess. I'm not a doctor and haven't seen an open chest cavity up close and personal, so I guess suspension of disbelief wasn't too big of a problem for me.

Psst...It's not real anyway. Wink

I didn't see the scene in "Heroes", but if you've seen Bob Fosse's All That Jazz, you have seen an open chest cavity, and you see it getting opened up too. All real; no F/X.

Alright, we're coming across new "heroes" all the time. I was totally stoked we now have Radioactive Man! And we all knew the kid Micah was special all along, right? The show is a little slow in unfolding, but I'm definitely hooked enough to stay with it.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?! All the commercials said we were going to learn what save the cheerleader, save the world meant, and it didn't explain anything. Unless it means that because Siler is sleeping, he can't do anything. I also like Peter's power, except once he told us what it was, you knew he would take Claire's regenerative qualities so he wouldn't die after falling.

I'm really jiving this show. I can't come to grips what happened at the end of episode 17... So Claire's father got shot in the stomach for what reason on that bridge??

Ok so obviously this is the greatest show of all time, and ep 17 was the greatest episode of all time.

Well pull up a chair and some midori and I will explain. Claire was given to HRG so she could be raised, however he was instructed to hand her over if she developed powers. Harbouring a hero carries the penalty of death which is why HRG had to shoot vanishing dude. Basically he figured if he turned claire over he wouldn't be able to deal with the pain as a father, but if didn't obey he would be killed anyway.

Although that must be annoying for Parkman because he can't say I told you so to the polic department, or can he?

So far this show has been quite good, and I agree with Prairie Fire that episode 17, "Company Man", was its best episode. The question is, now, can they keep that momentum going through the rest of the season after the hiatus?
