I can't believe no one has started a thread about this show yet. It's certainly one of TV's greatest, most underrated gems. Equal parts 90210 and Raymond Chandler, without being either too hokey or moody.

While Season 2 didn't quite live up to the wit and shrewdness of Season 1, it was still better than most things on TV this past season. If you haven't given this a chance, go rent the first disc. If you're not hooked after those first four episodes, you never will be. Don't let the sweet smile, blonde locks and gooey theme song deter you: this is pop pulp at its finest.

The Wire = Best Show on TV. Period.

I'm a big fan of Veronica Mars, and I've sung it's praises in a couple of other threads. I think a lot of people don't give it a chance because it's a teen drama, but the story lines and plot twists are among the best on TV. It's definitely among my top 5 favorite shows currently on TV.

I actually just finished watching season 2 on DVD, and I have to say, I actually enjoyed it more than season 1. The season 2 plot was amazingly constructed & the individual episodes fit together like one big puzzle.

It's a great show though. Excellent mix of intrigue, drama, and humor.

I’ll be Ben Gazzara, you’ll be Gena Rowlands.

I'm anxious to pick up Season 2 when it comes down a bit in price, because I think I'll enjoy it more the second time around. My wife and I watched Season 1 on DVD, so it was pretty much one episode after the other, finishing all 22 in merely a week or so. But with S2 we had to wait longer between episodes which killed some of the momentum. Plus, there seemed to be so many plotlines going on at once that we spent more time keeping up and less time enjoying ourselves. Keep in mind that I still loved the show, which proves how highly I regard it. I only hope S3 can come close to matching the fun and cleverness of the first 2 seasons.

This is probably my favorite show on right now. It's funny because it's filmed in San Diego (where I live) and I often see recognizable places in episodes. But I'm bummed that it's going to be more than a month until the next new episode.

Did anyone catch the last episode? I guess that's the end of the show but I’m hoping they bring it back in some form, maybe as a mid season replacement. But it was a very good episode, one of the best the show has ever produced.

But the most frustrating thing is that the CW, a network looking to compete with the big networks, canceled their only legitimately great show. They kept One Tree Hill for god sakes but the canceled Veronica Mars. Great move there CW, good luck with the Pussycat Dolls reality show and some hackneyed drama about teens in California, very original.

It's sad CW let it die. The first two seasons were some excellent television.

I don't think the third season was as good, mainly because of the decision to do shorter story arcs rather than one long one.

Despite the fact that this thread has had only 2 replies in 6 months, I think I'll chime in just for the hell of it.

90210 and Raymond Chandler aren't what I'd compare it to. I'd say Buffy and Twin Peaks minus the supernatural element. It just had that brilliant plotting on top of the clever, razor-sharp dialogue that Joss Whedon shows are usually known for.

I was kind of happy it got canceled. The first season was simply one of the best seasons of television ever made, the second was convoluted by excellent, and season 3 got a little too whiny and lacked as many impact episodes: Spit & Eggs and the finale being the only two that really hit me. It just wasn't worth the stress of watching the ratings every week any more.

It'll always live on in my heart.
