The only show I know of that had a colder, darker heart than South Park or Family Guy. Amy Sedaris played Jerri, a woman in her 40s that spent over half her life as a prostitute, but has moved back with her family and is going back to high school.

It sounds like a dumb premise, but they totally pulled it off. Every character is incessantly cruel and very often racist.

It ran for three seasons on Comedy Central, and all three seasons are available on DVD .

Jerri: (playing an indian in the thanksgiving play, about to charge at the pilgrims) Protect me, Satan!
(she gets shot)
Jerri: (dying) I deed to you the entire continental United States, Hawaii and Alaska. Free this land from my savage brothers!

Noblett: Historicaly, syphilis is right up there with Germans. It wiped out the Romanovs, it decimated our fleet at Pearl Harbour and of course Fidel Castro impersonated Marilyn Monroe and gave President Kennedy a case of syphilis so severe that it eventually blew the back of his head off.
Now, can anybody tell me how Mark David Chapman gave John Lennon syphilis? Anybody? Anybody?

Blackman: Dear Lord, thank you for giving this game your undivided attention. We'll try to be brief so you can return your energies to the movement of the stars and the condemnation of the Jews. Please hand us an easy victory. I'm not saying that if we lose we'll turn away. But do you really want to take that risk?

Noblett: For tomorrow's class I want you to write a history poem on Hiroshima, but remember, nothing too (writes on board as he says it) f-a-g-g-y.

Well, I know I enjoyed the show. The humour felt so... well, cold. But, it didn't offend me. I laughed, and laughed good.

I think that it might have been one of my favourite shows at one point in time. As it stands though, it's still a great show for me, and I think that anyone who doesn't get offended easily should check it out - you might like it!

I miss both Strangers With Candy and Upright Citizens Brigade.

Remember when they were doing 'Raisin in the Sun' as a play? All the characters are black, but they gave all the lead roles to white students and made the black students all trees.

Then there's lines like "Your brother lost two pounds by spitting!"

And in Upright Citizens' Brigade..they spent an entire season where this powder called 'Supercool' was supposed to be this real 'in' drug. Then it turned out supercool was actually just sugar.
