I don't know Louie CK's standup, but I like Jim Norton's alot. But I've seen the first two episodes of Lucky Louie and I don't get it. While there are some funny jokes (I assume most of them pulled straight from his standup), it plays like a bad 70's sitcom with cursing. And Norton's not nearly as funny as he is in his standup act (or even as he is on Opie and Anthony). I'll give it another week or so.
EDIT: after re-watching episode 2 last night, I think the audience laughter/laugh track (I think it's filmed before an audience) is part of the problem for me. It's REALLY annoying, particularly when they hoot and holler at naughty words.

The "hide and seek" scene at the beginning of this episode is taken straight from Louis CK's standup. The little girl who plays the daughter does a really great job. Kids in TV shows are usually really annoying, but she plays it like all kid characters should be played.
I don't know why you say 70s sitcom, since family sitcoms belong to no decade.
