So I just heard the news that FOX isn't ordering another season after this one. I know, it's terribly sad.

I admit that the episodes haven't been great recently, but this show had some great ones for a while. Lately, the plot of most episodes is something like: "Hank considers switching to a different insurance company. Meanwhile, Peggy and Bobby disagree over which brand of paper towel is more absorbant."

The problem is probably not that many people watching it anymore, not that the viewership was ever very high. It's kind of odd in that it's a cartoon that tries to be as realistic as possible. I thought it was boring the first few times I watched it, then started to get some of the humor. Like how Hank is basically obsessed with (as he puts it) "propane and propane accessories" and how Peggy is a substitute Spanish teacher, but pronounces the name of the language "Espanole."

I hope they finish strong and tie up all the loose ends. For example, they should finally have Dale find out about his wife's affair. It'd be cool if they did another two-parter for the last two episodes, like they did when Peggy skydived and when the Mega-Lo-Mart blew up.

I'm suprised it's been around for 13 seasons.

I've never gone out of my way to watch it, although the later eps (asuming the eps I've been watching lately are later) are better.

Didn't Dale's wife stop cheating on him at some point?

I was never a devoted King of the Hill viewer, but when I have watched it, it always struck me as a pretty solid show. It's one of the only animated shows I can think of where the characters actually grow and develop. It has the feel of a live action comedy.

13 seasons is a good run, so we can't say it died before it's time.

Great great show, but as Eric wrote, 13 years is a good enough run.

Bring on the splendid DVD's!
