I'm stealing two Family Guy quotes to describe it, neither of which originally refer to Arrested Development.
"I finally get (Arrested Development)! It's a sitcom that's too good to be funny!"
"Have you seen the show (Arrested Development)? I was watching the show, and I'm fading in and out. The question I have is... which one is the funny guy?"
I'm glad David Cross is getting paid. I'd just be happier if he was getting paid to be funny.

I get what they're going for. They're going for quality. I watch the show, and I think that some people there really want it to be a quality show. They want to massage some quality in between the writing and actors and sets and everything else, and make the show more than the sum of its parts.
But when I watch it, I see the main character guy, and he's trying to save the company, and it's hopeless. And the mom is just dreadful. And there's a bunch of relatives who will each try some scheme that is destined to fail. But none of it is ever funny, and instead is just a huge downer. I just feel really sad after watching it.

I am. It's really off-the-wall funny. It's not sitcommy, and can be a little odd at times, but I get more belly laughs from it than almost anything else on TV (except Curb Your Enthusiasm). I really enjoy it, and I'm glad Fox had the good sense to bring it back. I was half-expecting Fox to throw the AD money at Seth MacFarlane to see if he could make another Family Guy clone, this one even less funny than American Dad...

Now they're threatening to give Carmen Elektra one of their emmies if enough people watch.
I don't know why they would put this in their own ad, the last thing we need is another talentless eye-candy actress being praised by the entertainment industry. This is an incentive for me *not* to tune in...

The 3rd season started tonight. Not the best episode of the series, but still way funnier than anything else on tv. I'm not sure about bringing Steve Holt into the show as Gob's son, but we will have to see where they end up going with it.
I thought the episode tonight was hilarious. I heard about the storyline with Maebe going out with Steve Holt because she was afraid of dating her cousin a couple weeks ago, and I immediately laughed out loud before I even saw the episode. And the thing with postpartum depression? Who else but Arrested Development would dare put that on television?
I am gonna try this show, but it seems so wacky! I have to get used to it...I watched last night and kind of got the premise, but I feel like I have so much to catch up on.

This is one show where it really pays to buy the DVD. A lot of the jokes are only funny because of stuff that happened 10 episodes ago, or only funny because of stuff that will happen 10 episodes in the future. It is tough to keep up with, but very rewarding once you get into it.
I love it. the last episode I saw, I laughed so hard I though I'd spill the food I had with me.
I enjoy the brillaint writing, and I've beed a big fan of David Cross for awhile now - I love Mr. Show, and I enjoy his stand-up. I'm just very concerned that the show will get cancelled. Is it doing well, ratings-wise?

Yeah. "Arrested Development" was cancelled. It was The Only Good Show on Network TV. If "Family Guy" was funny and live-action it would be AD. Oh well...maybe they'll makee a ridiculous movie a la "Serenity".
It's still amazing to me that stuff like this gets cancelled, but "Yes, Dear" and "According to Jim" can go on for years. Guess it was over most people's heads.

Arrested development needs to be saved, it's like huge at my school. I think everyone should boycott That Prison Break show and theyll probably bring it back. Prison Break sucks and the main guy in the show has had the exact same facial expression the entire season. Who's with me?

Supposedly the series finale (for now) is on this Friday, and it's supposed to be two straight hours. I guess FOX is just cramming it in the place when the least people would watch it? Whatever. I'm pretty sure it will be picked up by another station, but when that will be is anybody's guess.
The show's advertising campaigns have turned me off so much I won't even flip to the channel to give it a chance anymore. Not that I was enjoying it when I was giving it a chance anyways! I can't stand David Cross, I have never found him funny. Not particularly a sitcom watcher to begin with though...

Even if the idea was ripped off, the payoff was funny. It was riduculous (William Hung and his Hung Jury as house band in the mock trial) but it was played as ridiculous. It made me laugh.
I need to rent those Clerks cartoons. I never saw them the two minutes they were on the air...
