I recently got the season 1 & 2 dvd of this totally awesome sitcom, which inspired me to start this thread. Show some love, post some quotes, or mope about how much it sucks that Phil Hartman died.

---

Dave: (talking to comatose Jimmy) And you'd say something like 'Why buy the milk when you got a fridge full of steaks?' And I'd say 'Sir, that makes absolutely no sense.' And then you'd say 'Well, it made a lot more sense when that guy Chuck Connors said it in that movie Chinatown.' And I'd say 'Chuck Connors wasn't in Chinatown.' And you'd say 'Dave, if I wanted to have this conversation I would have hired that guy Siskel Ebert.' And I'd say 'Sir, Siskel and Ebert are two people.' And you'd say 'Dave, just because the man is fat...'

---

Matthew: (on the air) Why don't people smile more? A recent survey shows that 80 percent of Americans NEVER EVER SMILE. These people need to go to jail!

---

(Dave and Lisa are having sex in Dave's office)
man: Is the news director in?
Beth: No, he's one of those 'sensitive' guys.

---

(Joe spouts his theory about the security cameras in the building being part of a government conspiracy involving aliens)
Dave: Wait a minute, Joe. If what you're saying is true... then I still don't care.

Yes, Newsradio was a great show as far as sitcoms go when Hartman was in the cast.

Dave Foley is a great comedian. (Just see him in Kids In The Hall).

I think what happened as the show went on is that the smart character/stupid character ratio drifted too far in the stupid character direction. At the start the smart/stupid ratio was 5:3. Then Catherine left, and Hartman died, and Lovitz joined the cast, so suddenly the smart/stupid ratio was 3:4.

But back when the smart/stupid ratio was still weighted favorably, it was one of the best sitcoms out there.
