I just finished watching the season 2 finale of B.G. and I'm still stunned at how amazing that episode was. Literally, the writers should be up for an Emmy for that episode, and the acting was phenomenal. This is the third best show on TV in my opinion (#1 - The Wire (HBO), #2 - Lost (ABC)) If you haven't watched it, Netflix the miniseries, then buy the first season, and check out the second season on SCI-FI -- I'm no sci-fi nut, but I've loved it.

BSG would be #1 show on TV for me.

The only television show in recent history I've liked more is the first season of Sopranos. (But BSG is much better than the last two seasons).

I think the finale itself was a tad rushed though. It made the other ship look a tad less 'pessimistic vision of humanity' and a tad more just 'evil'.

But yes, if BSG maintains this quality for another season or two and has an ending as good as the setup, BSG could surpass TNG and B5 for the best scifi series ever.

I've been on that show in the background a couple of times, but I've still never seen an episode. The oriental cylon on the show is an incredible actress to watch in person, I heard she went to the high school I attended in Grade 9. All very nice people to deal with, and the lead actors were super nice to everyone.

One thing to add about BSG...

Ron Moore, the writer?

80% of my favorite episodes of Star Trek TNG have his name somewhere in the credits.

Buh.

Okay, I want to talk about the season finale with somebody, and the friend I talk about it with doesn't usually see it the night it airs because he doesn't have Scifi.

What the HELL?!

BSG might be turning into the least predictable science fiction show ever. It took the show in a direction I didn't even think of as a possibility.

The fleet settles on random planet in nebula and becomes complacent, a year passes, the cylons decide they don't want to slaughter humanity anymore, so much as rule over them as their masters?

Watching DS9, you can tell that Ron Moore wanted to explore the Cardassian occupation of Bajor more than he ever got to. I wonder if this plot turn is him saying "We're going to explore the morality of terrorism by putting the good guys in a situation where it's their only option. Don't like it? Screw you."

I can't wait for season three. Unfortunately it's not till OCTOBER!!!

You know, I watched the mini way back when it premiered, and I thought, "Meh." A season or two later, a buddy of mine was living his life by the show, so I rented S1 and rewatched the mini. It works much better on DVD for me. The mini was spread out over two nights, and I felt no credible intensity from anything in the TV performance, but it worked on DVD. I've watched everything that's been released on DVD. I'll stick with that formula b/c it gives me a show to burn off in a weekend after the release.

I would really like me some new BSG. They can dwell on some minutiae sometimes (the Dee/Lee/Kara/Anders love rectangle could be intolerable sometimes) but the best episodes of BSG are simply amazing. Even one of the episodes that featured the above-mentioned love rectangle (the boxing episode) ended up being sheerly amazing.

It's an uneven show, but at its heights it is sublime. At its lows, it's still tolerable.

You better frakkin' believe it!

The last episode was spectacular. My favorite of the season.

So, the Final Five are from Earth. That explains why Tyrol, Tigh, Anders, and Tory went around singing Bob Dylan songs at the end of Season 3.

Edit: AV Club has a pretty good blog on this show, if you're interested.

I might start reading it during the wait for the second half of season 4. But its not so much of a big deal now that they have another series commissioned Big Grin and yea the last episode was great.
