what does everyone think about the oscars? i know someone already said they were pissed about the lives of others winning foreign film over pan's labyrinth. the one that actually got me the most was cinematography. Children of Men easily deserved that one. It was like they were giving pan's labyrinth awards it shouldnt have one and taking away those it should have

I agree that Children of Men should have gotten best cinematography. This film was beautifully shot (though I thought it also was jipped from Best Picture and Director as well).

Another surprise was Alan Arkin winning Best Supporting Actor over Eddie Murphy. Personally, I thought Alan was killed off to early in Little Miss Sunshine to get the award, but what do I know?

Other than that I expected the top catagorys, including The Departed which I thought deserved it.

Very surprised the The Lives of Others won over Pan's Labyrinth. Personally, I don't think The Lives of Others deserved it. Also surprised about the award for Best Song. I wanted Eddie Murphy to win Best Supporting Actor. I thought he was superlative in Dreamgirls.

I don't have much to say (because I don't pay attention to awards shows) but 2006 delivered some excellent movies. Children of Men, The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, and Pan's Labyrinth. I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting but those were superb.

I don't have that many complaints about the Oscars (I'm actually glad that Alan Arkin won, but then again, I haven't seen "Dreamgirls" yet, so it's too ealry for me to say). Of the five Best Picture nominees, I think "Little Miss Sunshine" should've won, but no movie this year--or this decade--as been anywhere NEAR as good as "Pan's Labyrinth". It's a total outrage that "Lives of Others" beat it--"Lives of Other" is a perfectly good movie, but "Pan's Labyrinth" is a masterpiece; the best movie made since "Schindler's List". I'm still mad about that, but the Academy is made up of a bunch of old farts who think that fantasy and quality are entirely different things (Yeah, they gave "Lord of the Rings III" an Oscar sweep, but the first two "Lord of the Rings" movies lost, and they were also the best in their respective years).
