Hey Mike, I am also looking forward to Nacho Libre...it's Jack Black as a wrestler. They have these confessional podcasts on Itunes every week where he gives you a behind the scenes tour. It's typical JB silliness, but it's getting me pumped for the film. Have you heard about it?

Lady in the Water (July 21). Another M. Night Shyamalan’s attempt to bring back the magic that his Village (2004) didn’t quite have.
I think the village was still pretty good even though it obviously didnt end up the way Shyamalan hoped it would. Lady in the Water doesn't look too amazing from the previews, but hopefully it'll be good.

Untitled: World Trade Center Project (August 11). Can director Oliver Stone even pull it off in time?
As of now it's called Flight (insert number here, 29 I think). This movie has the potential to be really good, possibly the next Munich, but the question is whether they will go for good acting and script or hollow action movie.

V For Vendetta (March 17). Another attempt at last year’s Sin City.
kind of looked like that at first, but it's so much more. It's really not that similar to Sin City at all.

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest (July 7).
Somehow I'm not that excited about this one. Maybe it's the fact that it is the second of a trilogy or just that it doesn't look that great. And wtf up with the squid and hammerhead shark people in the previews?

Sofia Coppola is coming out with her next movie based on Marie Antoinette. The trailer is up now on Apple and it looks crazy. The soundtrack is a bunch of New Order songs and Jason Schwartzman plays the King - definitely an interesting concept to follow Lost in Translation with. I can't wait!

I most certainly have. From what I know it is directed by the same people who directed "Napoleon Dynamite," which is an excellent sign (I was at first afraid that it would be another "Envy"). I have watched the trailer a couple time and the movie should be a great comedy. Thanks for reminding me about it Elle!

Me and my friends are going to see Akeelah and the Bee on Saturday, I've been looking forward to it for a very long time (looks like a really sweet feel-good movie, and it's getting amazing reviews.)
Be Kind Rewind directed by Michel Gondry and starring Jack Black sounds like it should be very interesting! Great concept.

There is rumour that snakes on a plane is so bad that people want to see it just to see what a shit movie is like. Maybe the worst film to be made, in history.
July 7: A Scanner Darkly. A science fiction animated feature that is suggestive of last year's Sin City. Looks rich with a new, detailed look with a great cast. Should be a surprise cult hit.
July 28: Miami Vice. Michael Mann's crisp, sharp, high powered techno look looks to bring this movie adaptation into sharp relief with hard, edgy action. May be one of the most compelling crime thriller action movies in years.
August 9: World Trade Center. Another United 93 punch in the emotional gut-wrenching near past. This will be a strong contender for an Oscar.

A Scanner Darkly WILL be a cult flick. I can see it right now. But I believe it won't make any money. (I've never equated money with quality, but others do.)
I believe that United 93 will be nominated, but unless Ollie Stone has changed his colors, World Trade Center won't get good reviews. (Do you remember how long it's been since he got GOOD reviews?)
As far as Mann goes, when was the last time a remake of a TV show got praise? (Money, sure; kids have no clue, but Awards and praise?)

Lady in the Water - I guess I'm a sucker for Shyamalan films, but I'm looking forward to this one. Bryce Dallas Howard should be good and Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti looks like a good fit for his character from the previews I've seen. The question on everyone's mind, of course, is whether or not there will be a twist ending.

My wife's cousin was a production assistant on World Trade Center. Of course, she was also a PA on Little Man As far as Miami Vice, I'm excited. I don't know about awards, but Michael Mann + Miami locale = gold as far as I'm concerned. No one does cops vs. robbers with more style than Mann.

I saw the trailer for this recently (it's hard to miss). Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's pretty much lifted from the classic Bugs Bunny short featuring Baby Face Finster.
I think that's hilarious.

I'd want to see Miami Vice if it had some people I like playing the main characters. Michael Mann rules at violence but I don't like Jamie Foxx and the white guy looks like a tool.
Heat would be one of the best movies ever if they cut out any scene with the female characters. The "personal lives" aspect of that movie felt tacked-on and the writing and acting in those scenes was horrible.
EDIT: I didn't want to see Clerks 2 after seeing the TV ads, but I saw some ads with swearing in them, and now I'm looking forward to seeing it.
