I don't know if I've ever read a single post on Brendan Benson in this forum. Am I the only one around here who likes this dude? BTW, I'm seriously pissed that Apple is now using one of his songs for an iPod commercial.

Didn't you know Jack White is his biggest fan?

Unfortunately for Brendan, fandom is not a transitive property.

But seriously, I know very little about Benson's solo work. I thought Benson's tracks were generally the weaker ones on Broken Boy Soldiers, but I think that had as much to do with the concept as with Benson himself.

By the way, when the Raconteurs toured that album, they did an amazing version of "Bang, Bang". It was one of the most memorable songs I've ever seen live.

Heh, I've already written far more in the Brendan Benson topic I have any right to, given that I couldn't even name a single song he's written solo. Sorry bout that guys. Maybe I'll make up for it by checking out his stuff.

Pick up either "Lapalco" or "Alternative to Love", and you'll be able to figure out pretty quickly whether you like him solo.

One Mississippi is still my favorite. I didn't care for the Raconteurs album much, except "Steady as She Goes." The album was pleasant enough, but was missing something.

I think Jack White wants to turn BB into a rocker - as opposed to pop. Maybe it's just not his bag.

Strange, I thought I posted this thread in the Indie section. At least, I meant to. Am I crazy, or did it get moved?
