Really? I thought Nocturama was better than The Lyre of Orpheus/Abbatoir Blues. I guess that's because double albums always tend to drag in my book. Of those two albums (The double album), which one do you prefer? Maybe we're just different Nick Cave fans, because i thought Abbatoir Blues was a hell of a lot better than The Lyre of Orpheus. I like it when the Bad Seeds rock out i guess. However, maybe if I trimmed down the double album into one streamlined, it might compete with the new one. But i think the fact that their is some fat to trim drags the album down a bit as a whole. Do you like the slow-burners or the barn-burners?

Yeah, me too. "Janglin' Jack," "Dead Man In My Bed," "Babe, I'm On Fire" and now "Lie Down Here (And Be My Girl)," make up my favorite songs of Nick Cave's. As I'm editing, it should also be noted i dig on their older stuff too, i just thought it was more in line with Birthday Party and they hadn't quite developed their own identity IMO.
Weren't a couple of the Bad Seeds in the Birthday Party? I looked it up, other than Nick Cave (duh), Mick Harvey was in the Birthday Party and Blixa Bargeld was in Einsturzende Neubauten (That's some pretty experimental 80's roots if you ask me). And Warren Ellis slays. Musically, I'd say the Bad Seeds are a damn fine band, and better than most others that are resigned to backing up a lead songwriter - in title at least (though the new incarnation of the Jicks with Janet Weiss is pretty damn good as well).
I'm not a huge fan of the slower songs, which is maybe why i like "Dig!!! Lazarus, Dig!!!" more than the past few albums. I'm ranting now, so I'll cut it here.
