No no no... not finding YHF to be Wilco's best is VERY very wrong. Like premarital sex wrong. Just don't do it.

ACaribouPixie is right. If you prefer A ghost is born, you'll become Birdo, that female dinosaur from Nintento

I don't think Birdo and Yoshi can be friends Frowner
Birdo is a boss level in super mario 2, and yoshi is Mario's friend. Can you just be Bowser?

Yoshi's into trannies. Birdo was originally a boy dinosaur who wanted to be a girl dinosaur, but Nintendo retconned that into saying Birdo was always a girl dinosaur. And now that Birdo plays tennis with all the other Mario characters, she and Yoshi are a couple apparently.

But yeah. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot simply doesn't have a bad track. Even the songs that people have listed as the "lows" of that album are among the best written in the past 10 years. Smiler

Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

Then again, Yoshi's gender identity is kind of questionable too... a dude dinosaur who lays eggs? Maybe all dinosaur-esque creatures in the Mario universe are hermaphroditic...

I think YHF got a pass when it came out because they got such a raw deal from their label. The album then took on mythic proportions due to the championing of certain, high profile critics. It's a good album, nothing more.

I may have been exaggerating a tiiiiny bit. But I still don't think there are any low points, and it's a far more interesting album than any other that Wilco's put out.

True. Except for the two that came before it. Smiler

He said that Being There and Summerteeth are better than YHF, not AM.

Not that it should make any difference, since either way it's just his opinion.

I'm finally getting around to purchasing my missing Wilco studio albums and have picked up the last 3 lately. The only one that I have given a proper listen to is A.M. Even though it is a guitar riff or two from being straight up country, I really like it. It is a really refreshing change from The New Pornographers/Spoon/Of Montreal sound that has dominated what I have been currently listening to.

Getting tired of the 2008 music craze, I've been listening to this band a lot lately and I just feel like asking, have you guys heard A Ghost is Born? Damn, that is a masterpiece. Every single song on it is a winner and the way Tweedy is able to channel Neil Young, Brian Wilson et al into one beast of an album is remarkable. I wonder, had it been released in 2002, if it be the rightfully regarded best album. Either way, I have been a huge fan of this band since I was some loser kid in middle school jamming out to "Misunderstood." I'd rank their albums something like this:

A Ghost is Born = Summerteeth > Being There = Kicking Television: Live in Chicago > Yankee Hotel Foxtrot > A.M. = Sky Blue Sky (or something like that)

I realize that I am cheating with so many "ties" but they are all so good. Also, I decided to leave off the Minus 5, Billy Bragg collaborations and Loose Fur albums because they aren't solely Wilco albums. I hold a special place in my heart for everything they have done and they are arguably the best American band currently making music. I just hope their next album is great.
