Dang. The world really needs more songs like "Beverly Hills." Such musical wizardry will be sorely missed. I don't think they can be replaced, at least not until someone else works up the courage to write MTV-friendly 3-chord pop-punk songs.

I thought Weezer were one of the best bands around, right up until Make Believe. I hate Make Believe so much that it makes me like their back catalogue a lot less. What a dissappointment. I thought they were the (early) Beach Boys of our generation (super-catchy melodies and songs about girls). I know other bands do the same, but not as well as the Weez.
Now, I could care less. I still think Rivers can shred the guitar very well, I hope he'll go in another direction. Good riddance Weezer, you made 1 album too many (IMHO).

Not shocking in the least. I read the article about them in Rolling Stone, and it seemed like everyone in the band hated Rivers. Anyway, I can't think of a band that was so adored by crtics and fans, have such a steep decline. I mean everythin after Pinkerton sounds the same. They may be missed by some, but not by me.
I'm pretty ambivalent about it. I don't hate Weezer's last three albums like a lot of people, but they all make me yearn for their early days, so it's hard for me to care one way or the other.

Now now let's not be hasty here... but yeah thank the dear Lord that that abomination of a formerly good band is finished... let's hope it stays dead this time.

Well, I just hopes it's finally over Make Believe was undescribably bad and they became part of the MTV generation by making a video that had horrible music and a bunch of half naked girls at the playboy mansion!

Weezer lost alot of my admiration due to the fact they never came to australia, after 8 or so years of waiting.. they went to japan all the time, but we got nothing...

Not a lot of love on these boards for Weezer. I will always love their first two records. With that in mind, has anybody heard the Rivers Cuomo odds and sods collection that came out today? Some of it dates back to pre-Blue Album stuff. Might be some gems in there.

I just want to chime in and say that I think, Maladroit is quite the underrated album. Some of it is straight up cock rock, I especially enjoy, "Take Control", "Fall Together", and "Love Explosion". I just think it gets unfairly overlooked because it is sandwiched in between two pieces of shit called The Green Album and Make Believe. Just got Rivers' home recordings album...anyone hear it yet? Any good?

I also believe that Maladroit is a pretty great album. However, I don’t think that their second self-titled album (green album) is so bad. I don’t think it’s great by any means but I do think it is pretty decent, now Make Believe, that is a different story.
Please do let us know what you think of that new album that Rivers Cuomo released. I heard that it was pushed back for different reasons but I haven’t gotten a chance to hear it yet. I am a pretty big fan of their music, especially Pinkerton, which I hold in very high regards.

My thoughts exactly. Their first two albums were pretty good, but I had hoped they would be done 10 years ago.
I hope they're done now, but with quotes like "we haven't mentioned..." and "for the moment", im not getting my hopes up.
