I remember thinking their 1st album was shallow.. I mean it was a great CD but it didn't seem like a lot of effort was poured into each track. I grew tired of it quickly; it was NOT the new Franz Ferdinand.
But damn.. even though the critics hated on it, I canNOT get enough of "Weekend in the City"! Seriously this is dope stuff.. and easily the most underrated album of '07. This is just as good as if not wayy better than their debut. Everyone must check it out, and give it a couple listens first >>>

I actually do like it a lot, earlier in the year it was one of the best records of 2007. Sadly a lot of much better albums were released and it has fallen out of my top 10 (and is probably on its way out of my top 20). I don't think there's a bad song on it, but at the same time there isn't an immediate stunner; the material is almost too consistent, which means that the first track is pretty much as good as the last -- here's hoping more people like the opener then.
8/10

I like it as well, and its still in my top 10 of the year. "On", "I Still Remember", "Kreuzberg", "Hunting for Witches" are all great tracks. There's definitely a few klunkers and I can't understand anyone really "loving the shit" out of it, but to each his own. The lyrics to "Waiting for the 7.18" are some of the worst I've ever heard.

I thought this was a pretty good album on my first few listens, but it wore on me really quick. For some reason, Kele Okereke's vocals really bug me on most of the tunes. I'm not sure what it is, because I didn't notice it on Silent Alarm, which I liked quite a bit.

I see a lot more negative comments about A Weekend In The City than positive, but I have been indifferent since it came out.
I can't love it as a whole and I can't hate it, I enjoy "Songs For Clay (Disappear Here)", "Hunting For Witches", "Uniform", "The Prayer", "I Still Remember" and "Where Is Home", the rest of the songs I can't stand and skip every time.
But regardless I saw them live for this tour in August and it was amazing, for some reason they didn't play "I Still Remember" though!

I really liked Silent Alarm, and when i first listened to A Weekend In The City, I was dissapointed, but after a while it grew on me, i especially enjoy the songs "Waiting For The 7:18", and I love "When Cain Said To Abel". I really don't understand why the critics bash it.

Intimacy will never beat Silent Alarm, but it is a solid effort. It is definitely a grower, and I've found myself going back to it quite a bit. Its nowhere near as bad as the critics and readers say it is. This groups backlash is almost as bad as the one Interpol had.
