Just when you thought it was safe to go outside again, Jack and Meg have released another awesome addition to their already succesful string of albums. "Get Behind Me Satan" is a venture in the right direction. The Stripes incorporate some new sounds while holding true to the sound structure that one us over originally. Although it can (and probably will) be said that this sound structure may becoming a little too much of a recurring theme from the Stripes, the duo has made a remarkable effort to throw critics and naysayers off track with this album. The classic 4/4 time signature finds it's way through most of the album, while songs like "My Doorbell" offer a quite welcome change of pace. While I praise them for offering a more dynamic sound than in past albums, the folky, gritty, sound that has popularized them seems to becoming annoying. Jaqck's gritty, off-kilter vocals seem too repetitive and the listener seems to not be able to escape, even after the music is turned off. And someone please help Meg learn how to be more creative on the drums. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the album but if the next effort from them follows the same pattern that they have repeated thus far, I won't be ringing on their doorbell anymore.
