The Killers Cd is....diffrent. Good and bad in MANY ways. I'd say to grab it from a friend for a few days and listen to it. Not something you would go back to.
Only if you survive this...

up... I surprised myself to enjoy a lot of The Killer's songs recently. I don't understand the 61 or 62 metascore for Sam's town, I think it deserves at least a 75 or something. Yeah, they like success, but instead of trying to be indie, they admit it. The ones who don't like The Killers should learn about why we listen to music. Any comments?

I never liked Hot Fuss--couldn't really get into it. Plus the videos and their overall personalities really turned me off. That being said, I went into Sam's Town only listening to the music, trying to pay as little attention as I possibly could to Mr. Flowers outlandishly conceited comments and their ridiculous videos. I think their latest album is pretty catchy, I had quite a few of their songs on my "Songs of 2006" list and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I liked Sam's Town. I liked it well enought to squeeze it into my year-end list and I think it's an all right album. However, if that album was released this year--with all of this great music already out--I doubt it would make my year-end list.

Yeah, they are kind of pretentious but there are so many other pretentious bands, it's just they are not targeted as pretentious because they are always smiling and wear pink clothes and a animal head like a wolf or a panda...

I have no idea about their personalities. I've only seen the "Mr. Brightside" video once and didn't get any idea about their personality. I'm kind of the opposite as far as albums go. I liked Hot Fuss alright, but couldn't really get into Sam's Town. That said, I really like a couple of the singles, especially "Read My Mind."

I have had fun listening to the Killers. People may judge me for it, but I'm not going to lie, I have.

quote: Sam's Town was my favorite album of 2006 and I agree it should have got a much better score than 62 or whatever. They're really one of few bands who are doing anything new.
I never really got that they are pretentious. If anything they seem like a group that doesn't take it's self too seriously unlike every other indie band out there. I mean have you seen their videos? Most of them are rather silly, and their music is too at times. That's largely why many critics don't like them: they take it too seriously and get too caught up in "taste" instead of recognizing good music.
I agree.
