I am listening the new My Chemical Romance album for a long time and really like it, I even think it's one of the best cd's of the year.
But now when the band gets bigger and bigger, and got a lot of attention from Mtv & co., i see a lot of people who just want get into them, cause they are to hip and to mainstream....
So, is a band less interesting, when getting more famous and playing non-stop in television and radio??

I don't have a TV for exactly this reason. I like bands based on their music, not whether I'm told to like it by an MTV bigwig.

On the subject of My Chemical Romance - I work in a record shop and a member of staff put them on the other day. It sounds generic. I think it will sell. Whether it should sell is an entirely different matter.

I think they are average at best. They have a good PR team behind them, but the music is not memorable enough. It has a youthful energy, but there is nothing beyond that. I don't think they're offensive enough to cause controversy, and they're not talented enough to change the musical climate. It's too manicured for my tastes. When emo or whatever it is dies out, so will MCR, just like Limp Bizkit did with Nu-metal, Ugly Kid Joe with funk metal, Poison with Glam metal etc, etc..

I largely listen to music outside of the mainstream, so I tend not to see things in terms of how 'cool' something is. I like new musical inventions opposed to copycat money-spinners.

The lead singer is 'very pretty' though, so what do I know?

Damn right they have a good PR team.
I watched them play a song live on one of the music awards shows, and they were absolutely terrible.

I hate mtv.

I think it is really up to the band whether or not they become less interesting the more popular they get. If a band, after stopping by TRL, wants to gear their music toward that audience, it is up to them. Likewise, if people want to buy a band's album just because they are on television, that is their shortcoming. Personally, I am happy when I hear my favorite bands on the radio or see them get some TV time. Unfortunately, like Duncan, a lot of my favorites are outside the mainstream and they very rarely do.
