My New Year's morning treat was watching the "Scotch mist" webcast. (And it's also available here.) It's mostly live performances from the studio, except the music video for "Nude" and also "Faust Arp," which Thom and Jonny perform outside in the twilight - quite possibly my favorite moment of the webcast. If you haven't yet, waste 52 minutes and watch it (and enjoy the strange randomness interpersed between the songs).

LMAO - you bought it used on the first day it came out? That is awesome.

My old store had it on sale Friday, Dec. 28th. I'll bet a lot of stores jumped the gun on the release date.

I enjoy the vinyl, but the CD experience is excellent. Oh yeah, it's way up on my list, but what would you expect from somebody so uncool as me? I also have a question, although it probably makes no sense here. Who is hipper? Hipsters or Anti-Hipsters? And, whatever your answer, who does that make "better"?

First we have to figure out if Radiohead bashers are anti-hipsters or are National bashers anti-hipsters? Can they both be anti-hipsters?

Nah. Being an anti-hipster makes you hip.

I see what you mean about the CD experience. It was #5 on my list but it might have been even higher had I gotten my discbox sooner.

Now to your question, which I think I really do understand! Yes, I had to read it over a good five or six times, I think the people that just like what they like because they like it are maybe “better.” I understand that the best band on the planet released one of the best albums of the year and this obviously means that there will be plenty of bashing. Yet, I think it is funny how people seem to go out of their way to purposely put something down. So thus, I would argue that since anti-hipsters try so much harder to be hip that hipsters are hipper because it just comes natural. Boy, that was confusing.

Overall, I would still argue that as long as you like what you like and that’s it, that’s better in my book. Granted, my book is as “uncool” and “bland” as yours mark—or so I’ve been told.

I think it's funny how some people go out of their way to make ridiculous statements like this:

Well now I am definitely confused. I naturally hate hipsters and hippies, so that makes me a hip anti-hipster(?), but I thought that no one in rural Kentucky could be anything other than a square, especially if they are trying to act hip in some way.

Anyway people that go out of their way to hate on Radiohead are just jealous that their favorite band isn't that awesome Wink

I was looking at the cover art, and the yellow blob kinda looks like a fetus to me. Just saying.

No it just makes you an anti-hipster. In order to be a hip anti-hipster, enough people would have to jump on bored in hating hipsters that you become "hip" to this trend and thus hate the anti-hipsters for their lame attempt at being hip. It's all based on power control. A hipster can't be hip if everyone else is. They have to be of the "elite", that's essential to being hip.

Enough of this nonsense Cool

In Rainbows debuted at #1 on the Billboard Chart this week. January sales are usually slow, but I still think this is an accomplishment considering the whole internet/discbox sales aren't taken into account. I believe that I read that the sales were roughly 1/3 of HTTT first week sales of over 300k.
