I think I might be in the minority, but Reckoner is one of my least liked songs on the album. I find it uninteresting most of the way, and the Yorke wailing, strings-soaked 'climax' is underwhelming. I don't really see it as an "upbeat" song either (15 step is though).

Anywho, I think Jigsaw is easily the best song on the album. Choice of single makes sense to me.

Agree with you, except I would have said "with the exception of their first album."
Sorry, I think misunderstood you or rather, I took what you were saying the wrong way. Like an idiot, I thought you were implying that The Bends only had a few good singles on it. And I guess you were trying to say that the whole album is good but that it is filled with a lot of great choices for singles. But anyways, if you did mean the latter then I agree with you.

In a lot of ways, The Bends reminds me a lot of U2’s Achtung Baby. I think you can hear their influence on top of that album, among other strong influences (R.E.M., The Smiths, Pixies, etc.)

sometimes i think that "in rainbows" is so close to "the bends".
i mean , if radiohead had recoreded "the bends" in 2007 then it would sound like the "in rainbows".does this mean that their new "ok computer" is yet to come?i was wondering...

I'm curious. What is it you don't like about 'Videotape'?

i could ask you the same question about the "Bodysnatchers"...
i like "videotape" but it happens to be my least favourite track.in every case a track should be in the last position.it doesnt mean that its a bad track , especially when we are talkin about an excellent album like this.
btw, i prefer the live version of "videotape".

Fair enough. I suppose you're right, favourites are a subjective thing. I guess for me, the negatives that I hear on 'Bodysnatchers' outweigh the positives. I like the final 1:30 of the song. But the guitar and vocals aren't very pretty to me for the the first half of the song, especially the guitar. 'Bodysnatchers' sounds like a mishmash of borrowed chords, vocals, and drums from some of their previous work, kind of like a cut and paste job. I don't think the song is cohesive, but mostly, it's just not a pretty song, to me.

But what's unappealing to one person may be pretty to another.

I've got to make some slight re-arraingements in my favorite to least favorite list. 'Videotape' is coming down a few notches. After repeated listens, I'm liking it less and less. The music on the track seems just a bit bland, lacks color and not as beautiful as I first thought. And the lyrics definitely aren't Radiohead's best.

'Weird Fishes' is moving up. This song just rules.

01. Nude
02. Reckoner

04. All I Need

Did anybody listen to the Thumbs Down webcast?
I downloaded the audio from the live tracks. Faust Arp, Bodysnatchers, and Reckoner are performed, with Faust Arp standing out, but all were great. Also a Smiths cover, I Might Be Wrong, and a couple others i'm forgetting. Check it out.

Thom's head in the box kindof bothered me. I didn't get to watch all of it though. It was interesting though.

I dont understand why so many people dislike bodysnatchers and jigsaw? All I Need is the only tune i don't completely dig.

So apparently one person has gotten their box set early. Unfortunately for anyone who hopes that he would leak it, WASTE knows exactly who he is because they called him beforehand to let him know he'd be getting the album early due to a shipping mistake.

Only a week now until the disc box comes out...

I must say it looks a lot cooler than I initially thought, based on what's been posted on the net up to this point. What do ya think?

Really? interesting... It's probably a tie between "Reckoner" and "All I Need" as best song on the album, for me.

And, I admit, I sometimes start the album on number 5 (aka "All I Need"), and pretend that it's number one, and "Apreggi/Weird Fishes" is number 10. Eeker Somehow, i don't feel it really messes with the flow of the album either...

Am I weird?

No, but I like the current sequencing, and I can't wait for my DiscBox to get here. Waste was nice enough to inform me that it was probably coming by ship, but that doesn't bother me. I sent some CDs from California to Australia by ship and they showed in four days. The DiscBox will be a bit more bulky though.
