Well, but you do get the whole regular album. I didn't realize that. I'll give them a few bucks for it. But still, there's got to be a cheaper physical release than that $80 one, doesn't there? That's crazy.

Yeah. It's crazy to think that a regular fan is forced to buy a double vinyl just to get the real CD. I mean, a regular fan can't even do anything with a vinyl. I would personally just hang it on my wall or something. Or shake it and hold it up to my ear.

I suspect they will eventually have an actual physical release of it. You can make so much more having people give you 10 dollars directly just to download it though. Especially if you have already hit your hardcore fans with an $80 charge to touch it.

Personally, I just wanna own the fucking CD, not the LP, and I want ALL of the tracks!

I wonder how many users on this site will have this album in their top 5 Razzer...

I'd laugh so hard if Pitchfork gives it a 4.3 or something.

Agree, what an odd way to release an album...interesting though, gotta give 'em that.

How likely is 4.3 given that they haven't previously given them less than 9 or so (I think)? Razzer

I don't think that boxset contains the "real" album, its just a bonus disc of b sides. They wouldn't release a double album. Kind of like releasing amnesiac as a bonus with kid a, maybe they don't want to drag it out like that.

Yeah, they've said for a long time that they don't like double albums, so I'm assuming the second discs is b-sides and such. This is an interesting way to release an album. I'm wondering how long ago they decided to do it this way.

I'm sure they're gonna release it in just CD format in time. One things for sure - that boxset is really cool. I'm definitely buying it.

You've got to admire the secrecy behind this release. In this day and age of digital leaks months before the album comes out, it's amazing that they could pull this off. For once, we can all enjoy a new album at the same time.

I would definitely want to hear it before shelling out 80 bucks for it. Not that I think it will be bad, but it's been a long time since the last album and anything is possible. On another note, one thing I haven't seen mentioned here is the quality of the download. If you don't want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for the physical box with all of the stuff, do you get some shitty poor quality digital download, is it high quality, lossless, etc? They need to be more specific.

i thought i had finished listening to all potential albums from this year, besides i make my list as the year progresses and change and rearrange as my listening habits change. Still I think its great that my list will be get to be changed!

jb made an excellent point, will it be 128 mp3 (that would not be fun Eeker) or lossless or ogg or what?

Yeah me too, but Thom is a really bad boy you know......

I personnaly think that the second album is like a bonus material CD. I'm not sure that Radiohead will talk about "in rainbow" as a double album. Hey, "in rainbow" sounds a bit like "in limbo", which is my favorite track of one of my favorite albums ever.

Raving Lunatic is a Raving Douchebag.

You say that you'll be dissappointed if the new Radiohead isn't your #1 of 2007, yet you complain that you don't want to spend less than it costs for a fucking COFFEE (!!!) if you don't get the whole shebang.

Regardless, you shouldn't even like Radiohead...other people have heard of them.

I'm torn now - I really want the songs on CD 2 also (having heard the live versions of some of them, although most of my favs are on CD 1) - but $80+ for a box set including vinyl, which is absolutely useless to me? Waah! Maybe I'll buy the digital download now and hope for something more accessible in the future - like a double CD? Or a second download? Or we can all jump on the leak the minute someone receives the first copy of CD 2 - but I rarely download (leaks, that is) and love having the actual CDs as well. I mean, I'd pay $20-25 easily for two CDs, even downloads, and I know most fans wouldn't even think twice...

But how cool is this concept though? Self-released, only a 10-day wait, no advance leaking? That's absolutely amazing! <happy dance of anticipation> Yay!!

And maybe I'll break down after hearing the digital release and buy the whole thing anyway...

Ok, so Rolling Stone says Radiohead plans a traditional CD release in early 08. That makes sense. So the boxset is for the diehards and the download is to prevent the advance leaks.

And just for fun, here isVideotape live in Chicago 2006. This is why I'm so excited.

For those who ordered online the mp3 download, how long did it take for you to get your confirmation e-mail? Usually, these things are sent pretty quickly these days. I've been waiting over 1/2 hour already. (I should've printed that damn confirmation code!)

Artists should be more inventive to defeat the "leak". Prince did something pretty cool by releasing his album for free in a daily newspaper in England (I forget which one). To bad the album sucks Razzer.
